Wasnt the adoption thing just one guy that was immediately shot down by everyone else?

Not sure which guy you are talking about.  The tweet I saw was responding to someone who had written about colonialism and mixed race adoptions.  Some journalist I never heard of.

I've been reading suggestions, albeit not from anyone I consider of consequence, that she be attacked for everything from her religious beliefs, to investigating her Haitian adoptions, to questioning how she can be both a good mother and a Supreme Court Judge.    Pretty awful, and I hope that cooler heads prevail among the senate Democrats.   Sexism, racism, and religious bigotry would not be good looks for the Democrats so close to an election particularly.  Her writings and judgements are fair game.

People are saying.

it was Ibram Kendi.  the author of the "anti-racist" movement.  he was recently given $10 million by twitter to further "develop" his work.  he is also a best selling author.  he is not a journalist.

the point of his book is that all white people are racist, and anyone who is a part of american society is racist because america is a racist country.  and if you question whether you are racist, it means you are racist.

so his point in his tweet about acb was that even though she adopted black children from haiti, she can still be racist because 1) she is white and therefore automatically racist; and 2) white colonizers often adopted black children to make themselves feel better for being racist.

LOL - I was thinking the exact same line. But he is like that across the board. He's too vain to admit he was helped on the way up so he wants to deny the possibility of help to anyone else to justify his own ego image. It's pretty transparent in all his thinking. Another small man given a big role by a dysfunctional  political system.

I didn't say he was dumb, I said he was warped, and I'll stand by that.

he's neither dumb no warped.  he has a different vision of what the law is an how to interpret it.  that's all.

I have no confidence anymore that human beings ever work from truly unbiased logic. In human behavior what we take as logic and rationality always follow as the result of emotional predisposition. We all find the that the arguments that appeal to us are the ones that satisfy our emotional and ego needs, whether we are ever aware of or admit that or not.

A human is probably incapable of working from unbiased logic 100% of the time.  It's enough for me if a person is logical enough to realize that logic is objective and not subjective and that he or she makes an honest attempt to arrive at the truth through logic.  Getting people to understand that logic is objective is at least half the battle though.

hey, gorsuch and kavanaugh voted against the fda today and denied their request to make it harder to get abortion pills.

must be their inherent biases coming out.  or maybe theyre just biding their time and denying the trump administration this time because they know that soon they can give him that big win they promised him!

Are you trying to argue they don't have a pro-life bias?  I'm open to the possibility they may have changed their thinking since appointed (doubt it) but it was obviously a requirement for being nominated.   I would also argue that pro-choice is a requirement for being appointed by a democratic president.

Since we're just speculating, it's just as viable to speculate that they didn't think it was a strong enough case to do what they want to do.
