Yes, it's still going to be here when we are gone!  Addressing climate change is for us, not for nature.

So we aren't actually destroying the planet?  It's still going to exist and keep spinning and flying around the sun regardless of its climate, just as it has for the last 6000 years or more?

What a relief!

The arthropods are just biding their time until this is all theirs.

It would be very arrogant of us to think we could destroy the planet that has been around for billions of years.  However, if we to want keep using it for our purposes,  it might be a good idea to not mess around with it so much.

Messing around with it is our purpose, isn't it?  Why would Mother Nature give us fossil fuels if she didn't want us to play with them?

To get rid of us?

There is a whole separate thread for climate change deniers, it has "settled science" in the title.

But the new improved Supreme Court is going to rule that climate change is unconstitutional, so it won't be a problem anymore.

People who want to read the Supreme Court discussion should not have to read climate change denials, when there is already a separate thread for that.  It is basic courtesy.

  • Thanks 2

Ah, well, if it’s basic courtesy you’re looking for ... 😝

I apologize for posting about climate change in the Supreme Court Thread.  I keep forgetting this is the political form with separate topics.  I tend to read every topic as "Donny is a douchebag".

Harris brought up the topic during the hearings.  Not clear on what her point was but ...

Does this help, hurt, or not matter? I'm guessing C.

It doesn’t matter much in the scheme of things. She’ll be confirmed and the country will begin its march back to the Articles of Confederation

I was ambivalent about court packing but now I saw **** it. Put 4 on there. What’s the history on that?  Where is it enshrined we have 9 justices and only 9?  Because I recall a time very recently where we only had 8.

so yeah.  Do it.

I need to do some more research to see if the Constitution needs to be changed but I like this

If I understand it “Retired” Supreme Court Justices would be allowed to rotate to other courts to full the lifetime thing...

I don't think that would fulfill the intent of Article III. It says they hold "their office during 'good behavior." "Their" as in the one they were appointed to, not someone else's. I don't see any way moving a judge to a lower court without impeachment to 1st remove him can meet that language.

Because of course she did.

She's going to have a bullseye the size of Susan Collins on her in 2022. Fortunately for Murkowski, Alaska is more conservative than Maine so she has a shot.
