Doctor Detroit

Miguel Cabrera was worth it and then some

Recommended Posts

Didn't Joe Morgan lead-off for the Reds instead of Rose?

Not in '75 (I'm on an old Series-watching jag; I just watched the DVD set of the '79 classic Pirates vs. O's, now I'm watching the '75 Series).

Rose led off, followed by Morgan, then Bench, then Perez. Good lord that was an incredible lineup. That might be the best top 1-4 of all time.

Thanks for the info - my way back machine is broken and I didn't want to do any research.

Pete Rose was a great hitter, in his prime he was a 150 OPS+ guy, that's Miguel Cabrera level.

The fact that he hung around for a long time when he was past his prime shouldn't taint the best years of his career.

Tigersrok>Hi

lol

TR posted in this same thread that he was wrong. Why do continue to harp on it? You've got his name in your sig line mocking him and you bump this thread everytime that Cabrera does something.

It's a dick thing to keep bringing it up after he's recanted the comment.

Great hitter. Congrats to him for turning his season around.

Too bad about the rest of the team.

Cabrera will go down as one of the best right handed hitters ever. Of this generation, only Pujols, Manny, and A-Rod can compare to Miggy.

I'm pretty sure that many other posters will agree with me. One already did.

Who are you again? Do you have your own RSS feed so I can keep up with your informal board policing and what you like and don't like? Thanks buddy.

Mind you own business.

I'll be the bigger person and walk away.

If you announce that you're being the bigger person, you're not being the bigger person. That's like saying, "I'm such a great guy. Humble, too."

EDIT - But to get this back on track, yeah buddy was Cabrera worth it. What a hitter.

And he's looked good at first this season, too.

Lets just lock this thread up now eh? :-)

Not before I predict with me soothsayer powers that Miguel will win an MVP in the very near future. :classic:

Pretty cool picture of him when he was a kid that I also posted in the gae thread today.

Another here with the guy I think he can be compared to at that age:

His HR and double today were two of the hardest hit balls I've ever seen. I'm hoarse from the yelling.

Everything he has been hitting he has crushed. Even hurt him today when he hit a hard single with two on and no one could score!

With Ichiro seemingly in decline, he's got a little less competition for the batting average department. I wouldn't be too terribly surprised to see him lead the league in HR and RBI. He came pretty close last season, for example. But the average combined with those, I'm not sure. I'm not sure I can think of someone in the AL with a better shot at it than him, though.

That's what I was thinking.

He has a REALLY good chance to lead in HR's and RBI's... but the BA title will be the hardest part. He can hit for a pretty decent BA as well though...

I agree... he's the player with the best shot at the TC this year... Maybe Josh Hamilton?
