Fairly sure we'll need help at Corner Back...

Recommended Posts

Well, reports seem to be positive that Fair will be good to go by opening day. Still isn't a definite by any stretch of the imagination, but it's looking more positive.

Even given a health Fair, who are our corner backs gonna be? Lyght and Fair? That's a little scary. Will any of our late round CB's have a chance at making the starting roster? Will we have any shot at help after June 1st?

Why don't we retain Moore and convert him to a CB? (Okay, that's a joke, but our situation seems pretty deperate at CB.)

The Lions aren't in ideal shape, but they aren't in the worst shape in the NFL, either. Andre Goodman, their 3d round pick from South Carolina, is an ideal nickle corner. Reports from mini-camp are that Chris Cash is O.K., but keep an eye on undrafted FA Perry Carter. At 6-1, 192, he has ideal size, and turned some heads to his direction. Don't forget about Jimmy Wyrick and Chidi Iwuoma, and I get the feeling if Fair isn't ready, then Plan B would be to start Todd Lyght and Lamar Campbell, so at least the Lions would have some size and experience there. With the new additions at safety, the secondary will improve tenfold from last year, where most of the Lions defensive problems started last year. Right now, I'm more concerned about the Lions lack of depth at linebacker.
