What is the best place to park near the park?

I don't mind walking if I can save myself $5-10 bucks.

There's a lot on Woodward near Hockeytown. It's $10 during a regular game, no idea what opening day price would be. Basically it's just over a bridge that covers the expressway. Pass that bridge and you're there. Right across from the new loft condos they built on Woodward.

thanks, never tried on the other side of the expressway.

i remember during the playoffs in 06 it was 20 anywhere i looked.

im afraid for opening day it will probably be 20 bucks pretty much every lot out there.

Park in the lot behind Nemo's Bar on Michigan. Pay $3. Take the shuttle to and from the stadium. It's a great time.

Near a people mover stop is good advice.

I've been parking in a lot on bagley between Clifford and Grand River for years. Most of the time it's $5, sometimes $10. It's very convenient, only 4 blocks and when we leave it's away from the traffic.

The Nemo's shuttle is very good for going TO the game, you get the chance to eat and drink. The problem is coming back. Once the game's over I just want to get home, I hate waiting in line.

I also noticed that for today's game they had the shuttle drop off/pick up points way over by Grand CIrcus park instead of right outside the stadium.

Here is a more specific question for you regulars...

Me and the GF are going to Detroit for Saturday's game against the ChiSox. We decided to stay the night because we want to get crazy drunk for our one year anniversary so I assume it would be best to park somewhere that will be protected overnight. Is this something we can do at the Greektown parking, or what other possibilities exist for good overnight parking?

Thanks guys!

Ugh. Can't we just regurgitate an old thread on this, and leave it up permanently?

Please!

Your hotel doesn't have parking?

The reason I don't want to just link to an older thread is that we have more users now and someone else may have insight into the situation that wasn't given before. Or a lot may have closed, or opened up.

Good question. I don't think so, but I plan to find out for sure before Saturday. I just saw this thread, assumed they didn't, and thought someone might have suggestions.

I would suggest calling the hotel and asking them directly. If they don't have parking, it is likely that they know of nearby lots for their customers to use. There are a number of parking garages downtown.

Greektown. If you dont mind a little walk. Park in the casion lot and walk in to validate it! Free!

last time i tried this they told me i had to have a vip card or something during game days.

Not with the new garage. As long as you're old enough to gamble you can park there for free. You have to go through the casino to get to the street, but you don't have to get validated. We parked there for Opening Day and the garage is HUGE.
