Food between Detroit and Dayton, OH

Recommended Posts

I know I'm starting this a bit late, but here's the deal...

Around 4 today, I'm going to visit an old college buddy in the Dayton area. I'll be driving down there this afternoon/evening, and returning sometime tomorrow night (probably around 11 or 12). The drive is only a few hours, so I don't NEED to stop anywhere for a bite to eat, and it's very likely that I won't. However, I was wondering if there is anything along that stretch of i-75 that is more like "can't miss" food that would be worth stopping at. Anything unique, or any random hole in the wall that's perfected some sort of everyday food?

All suggestions are welcome! As I said, I'm leaving around 4 today.

Find a Waffle House! I'm just kidding, I've never seen anything that great on the way before...

there's a place right by Findlay, I think it's exit 157-161, somewhere around there, and they have some mom and pop burger place that's pretty solid

Myle's Pizza in BG. It's about 5 minutes off I-75 and probably the best pizza you'll ever eat.

Get the Garlic Bread w/ cheese as your appetizer and you'll thank me.

I've been. And I agree. Oh, do I agree.

Unfortunately, I gave up pizza for Lent.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll keep an eye out for the porn store as well.

also, Campus Pollyeyes at BG, stuffed breadsticks=hof

Good point!

This is a close 2nd to Myle's as a legendary BG food, and would probably not break the OP's lenten sacrifice. Stuffed Breadsticks != Pizza

Myle's & Campus Pollyeye's are reason enough to stick around BG. There are other good local eateries, but those are the best.

I'll tell you the place I miss most in Toledo - a small strip mall Chinese take out place called "3 Happiness" but that would be out of your way if you're taking 75 from Detroit to Dayton. If you're coming from Ann Arbor and going 23 to 75, its close to the Airport Highway exit. They have the best General Tso's Chicken and the best Crispy Beef I've ever had. I can't find any Chinese this good in Columbus. Although Columbus has a lot of awesome Japanese restaurants.

Off of 75 in Toledo - downtown by Fifth Third Field there is Packos at the Park and then there is the Frickers that is in a way connected to the 5/3 Field. Frickers isn't great food by any means but it's a fun place to go before/after a Mud Hens game.

Not a clue what you're talking about and I'm quite familiar with that area. Unless you aren't talking about a place right off the express way. Theres Cracker Barrel, Denny's, and just a lot of chains. The only non-chain place I can think of is off exit 161 turning North on Main street and theres some crappy burger joint there - pretty close to the Whirlpool dishwasher plant.

Skyline Chili is like a Boston Market type. Not exactly fast food but not far from it.
