Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame - 1995 Elections

Recommended Posts

The names below represent pitchers and hitters who hung up their Tigers uniforms for the final time by the end of the 1995 season, logging at least 300 innings or 1,000 at-bats during their time with Detroit. It also includes non-players who were significant to the organization.

Between these names and the position players below, we will agree upon a list of up to 12 players which will make up the pool of 1995 nominees.

We will be voting on the 1995 nominees as well as the nominees from previous classes who were not elected but who met the minimum vote percentage to remain on the ballot.

Including carryovers, this is an absolutely staggering class. In both numbers and talent. To say nothing of the non-players.

I will be voting for at least 10 people. Wow.

Loaded ballots.

Lou is one of the greatest of all time. It's a shame he can't go in with Tram.

Gibson, while a jerk, also belongs.

Tettleton and Phillips are two of the most underrated players in team history. I'd say they should be locks.

Henneman and Hernandez also belong. I didn't vote for Hernandez last time because I wanted to make sure that Kemp hung around on the ballot, and I thought we would finally have a shot at getting Whitehill in.

I can't believe O'Neill hasn't been voted in yet. Jim Campbell deserved it last time around too.

Paul Carey and Sparky are locks too. Being from outside of Detroit, I know nothing about Osterman. How was he? Does he deserve a vote?

I don't know anything about Osterman really, but I felt compelled to include him because he called Tigers games for 20 years. That's no small feat. Then again he could have been crap. Jim Price has been calling games for a long time.

I count 17 people I'd like to vote for. That is not a joke.

No, Mickey Stanley isn't one of them.

He was on PASS for several years and that's my experience with him. No one talks about the fond days with him so he won't get my vote. He deserved to be on the ballot though.
