Sele Vs. Redman

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Angels try to extend their winning streak to seven games on Wednesday as they continue a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.

The Angels have won six consecutive games and 15 of their last 17, matching the best 17-game stretch in franchise history. They have won seven of their last eight games and opened a six-game road trip with a 9-2 victory in Tuesday's series opener.

Tim Salmon had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs and Troy Glaus belted a two-run homer for Anaheim, which has outscored its opponents, 49-17 during its winning streak.

The Tigers have lost six consecutive games and nine of their last 11.

Aaron Sele (3-2, 5.75 ERA) takes the mound for the red-hot Angels on Wednesday and tried to win his fifth straight start. He is 3-0 despite a 6.39 ERA in his last three outings.

Sele defeated Detroit an Edison Field on Thursday, when he gave up four runs and nine hits in six innings.

The veteran righthander improved to 9-4 with a 4.05 ERA in 16 career starts against Detroit. He is 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in two lifetime appearances in Comerica Park.

Sele is 1-0 with a 5.11 ERA in two road starts this season.

Detroit hands the ball to Mark Redman (0-4, 5.24), who is still looking for his first win of the season.

Redman lost to Sele in Anaheim on Thursday, surrendering seven runs -- three earned -- and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings. He has allowed four runs or more in four of his seven starts this season.

The 28-year-old lefthander is 0-1 with a 5.19 ERA in three career starts against Detroit after his last outing.

Redman is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in three starts at Comerica Park this season.

So far the highlight of this game is Drew & Mike of WRIF and Jeff Daniels joining Gibby and Mario. They said Scotty Bowman is supposed to show up too.

Drew has a nice card collection there, and Mike was sporting the Mud Hens road jersey.
