Bertuzzi To Detroit

Recommended Posts

I still believe he should be out of hockey for as long as Moore.

Moore might have been out of hockey anyways he was a marginal player at best. The Bertuzzi hit was cheap he served a severe penalty he paid his debt. Time to move on. Convicted killers don't have to wait for their victims to come back to life to be paroled.

Moore wasn't any good so its ok that Bertuzzi ruined his career.

Is there an implied smiley here, or are you really that vicious?

Claude Lemieux thinks Moore should thank Bertuzzi since, before the hit, nobody knew who he was.

Stupid comment. You can't base suspensions off the length of injuries. There are just too many factors that contribute to the severity of injuries. If Bertuzzi hadn't hit that sweet spot on Moore's jaw, Moore is still playing hockey today. Even as an avid claude lemieux hater I dont think he should have been suspended for as long as Draper was out with his shattered face, simply because there are illegal hits every game that result in no injury at all

Bertuzzi was a victim of the fact that Moore broke his neck. Was it a cheap shot? Yes, of course. However, if Moore is fine from it, he gets MAYBE a couple game suspension, if not just a fine for it.

...and this is what is wrong with the NHL. They should progressively punish all brutal hits (from behind into the boards, and stick incidents) and NOT by how bad the victim is injured.

How is the NHL different than any other league? All leagues take into account the consequences of the player's actions when handing out discipline, much like our criminal justice system. Gerald Henderson never would've been ejected or suspended, if Tyler Hansbrough's nose didn't start to bleed uncontrollably.
