Final game before Christmas after this the Wings take a three day vacation before once again facing Minnesota at home as soon as they get back.

Domink Hasek looked red-hot in goal the night before having stopped 34 of 35 shots, so its tough to say how he will perform on the road.

The Wings hope to capitalize on their 2 game win streak with a 3rd win tonight, and Matthieu Schneider looks to contribute some more to his assists streak which currently sits at 12 game. With two more games Schneider will match Brian Leetch's assist streak record of 14 games.

Red Wing Injury list:

Mikael Samuelsson RW - Pulled Groin - Questionable

Tomas Kopecky RW - Fractured Collarbone - 10-12 weeks

Danny Markov D - Broken Hand - 3-5 weeks

Jiri Fischer - Heart Irregularities - No foreseeable time line.

Wings go down 3-2 in OT. A horrific play by Pavel gave the Wild an early Christmas gift, and lead to the game winning goal on a breakaway. Typical Pavel, playing with the puck too much, eventually coughing it up.

Overall, I thought, the grinders carried the play for the Wings. Osgood was solid for a goaltender making his second start in the past seven weeks.

True, but it's a goalie's job to stay square to the shooter. You'll never see a goalie hugging the post in that situation. Lindstrom screened him, he never saw the puck coming, and was unable to adjust when it was deflected. If anything, you could blame the defensemen for letting Bouchard campout in the crease, but i prefer to think it was just a bad break.
