O-Tigers rally past Hudson Valley, 3-1

Brandon Timm and Casper Wells had two hits apiece to lead the Oneonta Tigers to a 3-1 New York-Penn League victory over host Hudson Valley on Wednesday night.

Oneonta (39-34), which was eliminated from the playoff chase earlier this week, finishes the season at 6:05 tonight at Hudson Valley (31-42).

Tom Thornton (2-4) pitched seven innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits. He struck out five and walked none.

Jonah Nickerson threw the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out three to earn his second save.

Trailing, 1-0, The Tigers tied it in the third on a one-out single from Joe Tucker that scored Timm.

Oneonta took the lead in the fifth on Jordan Newton’s second homer of the season for a 2-1 score.

The O-Tigers capped the scoring in the seventh on Casper Wells’ sacrifice fly. Santo De Leon, who had singled to lead off the inning, scored on the play.
