No.

In more than one word....Griffey has been hurt for a couple of seasons now, and even when healthy has not looked as good as he did in Seattle. Weaver has great movement on his pitches, is getting better, is young, has stayed healthy.

Nope... I think Griffey best years are behind him now and all he has in front of him is years of struggling with mediocrity.

Weaver still has his best years ahead of him.

That trade would get us knowhere. Even if he was healthy it would only be a one man side show and possibly bring in some more ticket sales. We need to make a trade that is going to benefit in the long run especially if we trade Weaver. If we got Kearns and another major league caliber youngster in return than yes, but not for Griffey.

Kearns AND another major league caliber outfielder!?!?! Man you think alot of Weaver. I'd trade Weaver for Kearns in a heartbeat, and ask if they wanted a reliever not named Anderson as a thank you present.

I'd also probably take Griffey, since his salary is low for a player of his caliber, and we are weak at CF. But I don't think getting Griffey would really benefit the team long term as much as Kearns would.

[/QU Why would anyone want a clubhouse cancer like Griffey on their team? dont take my word for it, go to the Cincinnati ste and see what the fans there have to save about that prima-donna or beter yet, see what Young had to say about the IDIOT.

Yes....we could trade Griffey for Tim Hudson (you get the idea) Griffey is better trade bait

Griffey would make Tigers better but he is too old for our club...and too whiny.

Hey Q, if you are going to quote me at least get it correct! I didnt say "major league caliber outfielder" I said "major league caliber player". There is a big difference in those statements. First of all, we dont need a frickin outfielder. Second, major league caliber doesnt mean a darn all star. Don't get all in an uproar dude.

Jeff Weaver is capable of being a #2 or #3 starter on alot of teams, probably #1 on the Reds. The tigers would not be trading him because he is a bum and just to do it, they would be doing it because someone needs a pitcher badly and is willing to blow us away with a deal. Otherwise, we would keep the most talented pitcher on our roster.

My bad. I apologize. You are correct, there is a big difference in those statements.

That wasn't an uproar. An uproar woud be signficied by !!!!!!!

!?!?! Signifies incredulity (sp?) at the idea that any team would give up Kearns AND something else of value for Weaver.

I'd trade Weaver for Griffey, as long as he wanted to be here.

Realistically, on a championship team, is Weaver a #1 starter? I think the injury factors cancel each other out as Weaver is a pitcher. And the injury factor is also the only reason this deal can be discussed. Griffey is still young enough where if he's healthy he can play for 10 more years. I think 10 years of 90% Griffey is better than 12 years of a pitcher like Weaver.

Trade Weaver for one of the greatest players of all time? Sure. In a heartbeat.
