*RUMOR* Kozlov back in Detroit

Recommended Posts

Kozlov may be traded back to Detroit. Boston, NYR, and LA are also interested. I hope we do get him back.

Kozlov Datsyuk Zetterberg

That would be a good line

I wouldn't mind having Kozlov back for the right price -- that being the price that still allows for Zetterberg and Datsyuk to be signed.

Well what are we giving up. I'm thinking if we do get Kozlov, that means one of those other guys you mentioned are gone.

I can't imagine any team would expect to get either of those two for Kozlov. Unless, of course, we'd be getting something in addition to Slava.

Maybe its been made clear that we need 5-6 mill for Datsyuk and we realize we can get a deal on Kozlov for him instead of just losing him to Russia.

I really hope that's not the case

That would be a bad, bad move.....Lang is worth every penny he's paid.

That would truly suck.

Hopefully that is incorrect.

Would go down as the worst trade in NHL history

No, that would be Adam Oates and Paul McLean for Tony McKegney and Bernie Federko (at the end of his career).

Look back at the Lindros trade and tell me if you still think that's true. If the Wings weren't the Yankee's of the NHL the Lindros trade would have been the first single player trade that resulted in dynasty based on the players brought in, in return.

First of all, I think it's pretty clear who the Yankees of the NHL are, and it's not us. We're more like the Cardinals of the NHL, with more recent success.

Candidates for worst trade:

- Dominik Hasek for Stephane Beauregard and a 4th rounder

- Oates and McLean for Federko and McKegney

- Cam Neely & Glen Wesley for Barry Pederson

- Markus Naslund for Alex Stojanov

- Lindros for Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Kerry Huffman, two 1st-round picks and $15 million.

...and it's worse than it looks:

Quebec used the 1st pick on Jocelyn Thibault, whom they packaged with Kovalenko and Rucinsky to get Patrick Roy from Montreal.

They traded Duchesne to St. Louis for a package including Ron Sutter and Garth Butcher. They traded Butcher to Toronto for Wendel Clark, who they traded to the Islanders for Claude Lemieux. They traded Sutter for Uwe Krupp.

After winning the Conn Smythe, they traded Lemieux to New Jersey for a package that included Brian Rolston and the Devils' 1st rounder. They traded Rolston and the 1st rounder in a package to Boston for Ray Bourque and Dave Andreychuk.

After Ricci helped them win a cup, they traded him to San Jose for a 1st-round pick. The Avs used the pick on Alex Tanguay.

Hextall was traded to the Islanders in a package that netted the Avs the Islanders 1st-round pick, which they used on Adam Deadmarsh. After helping them win a cup, they traded Deadmarsh for Rob Blake.

They traded Simon (with Leschyshyn) to Washington for Keith Jones and two 1st-round picks. They used the picks on Scott Parker and Shjon Podein, both of whom got rings in 2001.

So here's what they got for Lindros after six degrees of separation:

- Peter Forsberg for 10 seasons

- Patrick Roy for 8 seasons and a Conn Smythe

- Claude Lemieux for 5 seasons and a Conn Smythe

- A Cup-winning goal (Krupp)

- Bourque and Andreychuk rentals

- Mike Ricci for 6 seasons

- Adam Deadmarsh for 7 seasons

- Rob Blake entering his 5th season in Colorado

- Alex Tanguay entering his 6th season in Colorado

- 2 Stanley Cups

- $15 Million

What Philly got:

- Humiliated

- Swept

- Kim Johnsson

I'd love to have Kozlov, but I just don't see how it could happen unless Kozlov could be had for something close to the league minimum. There's no way I'd let go of any of the following players: Dats, Z, Lids or Lang to get him either.

I quoted this part because it's funny, but the entire post is great.
