Carbon Leaf

Recommended Posts

This is a fun band from Virginia that actually is getting a little bigger.

They have a different sound for a band from the south.

I recommend checking them out. They actually have downloads at their site for anyone that wants to take a listen:

http://www.carbonleaf.com/

Having seen them quite a few times live they put on a pretty decent show.

Anyway I thought I would give people a heads up so they could take a listen to them.

Enjoy.

Click Media, then downloads and listen away. It is in mp3 format pretty much all the computer audio programs will play it.

Roger that! I can play it, but I know there is a way to save it to disk and I can't figure out how.

If you are talking about the music on their website right click on the file that you want to download and choose save as.

If you are talking about the concert files you need a bittorrent download program.

Our station just had them play our stage at the Ann Arbor Art Fair. It was a blast. Huge crowd came to see them (it was a free show)- some from as far away as Chicago and Cincinnati.

My station is pretty good for a commercial station. We play a lot of stuff that other stations won't touch, but it works for us. I'm pretty sure we are the only ones in Michigan (commercial stations) that play Carbon Leaf. And we play 4 cuts from them. We still play Sheryl Crow and Matchbox 20 and stuff you'll hear everywhere else too (we really want to keep it going, can't get too out there).

Sure, this is a shameless plug for the station (107.1 in Ann Arbor), but I have a lot of pride in it - something that hasn't happened in over a decade.

You should also check out Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers.

The ones one archive.org aren't torrents.... they are standard downloads from a server.

I think my fiance listens to your station. Are you guys the ones that "play everything"?

My apologies if you aren't. I only listen to sports radio myself, and hear this station only when she has it on.

If you donwload lossless, it will be a .shn or .flac, so you'll need a plugin for your player to listen to them (Shnamp or FLACAMP) should work w/ winamp. Otherwise, it will be an mp3.

Some bands let you stream it as well off the archive site - I'm not sure about carbon leaf though.

There's a lot of good bands on the archive though- you should peruse and see em.

Thanks for the info on downloads and keep the info on good music flowing. Picked up an old Aerosmith, a Tool and my first Decemberists album yesterday.

I see some issues still exist in writing FLAC downloaded files to CD. Whether it is 16 bit or 24 bit.

Thanks again...Roger

No, that is Doug FM. They suck and are run by an evil little bastard with a Napoleon Complex.

There's a reason the "play everything" channels don't last...

It's a desperation move and an attempt at a quick fix, though they are finding out at ABC Detroit that it isn't making the initial impact they expected. Plus that evil little bastard can do radio without a staff, which is perfect for a man with fewer people skills than Buddy Ackerman's.

Well, here's the issue: 24 bit can't go onto a CD- cd's only do 16bit. I'd avoid those if you intend to burn to CD, b/c its kinda difficult to dither them to 16bit for burning.

As far as 16 bit, if you download a program called "flac frontend" it will convert the flacs to .wavs, and you're golden.

I think that flacfrontend will also integrate w/ nero to allow you to burn directly from flac to cd, if you use nero. I've never done this, but I hear it works.

If you are still having problems, let me know and I'll do my best to help out... I love making sure people hear the music!

Ah, sorry man. I know she does listen to 107.1 though as well. She jumps around, and I don't really pay attention... but I do know that they don't play f'n everything - they basically play everything that SUCKS!!!

I presume you listen to sports radio - do you listen to 1050 at all?

I quit it... it always, always leads to an argument.... apparently telling her that a song sucks shreds her self confidence.... don't know why....
