Muhammed Ali in the clubhouse after the game

Recommended Posts

In the 9th, he drove a pitch from Brandon Villafuerte (0-1) an estimated 457 feet over the center field fence for his ninth home run of the season. It was the longest home run in Comerica Park history.

And after the first walkoff homer of his career, Munson got another surprise, when Muhammad Ali visited the Tigers' clubhouse.

Ali did magic tricks for the players, joked with them and posed for pictures with them.

"That's an honor," Munson said. "If you're not humbled by him, if you don't see something special about him coming into your clubhouse ..."

I changed it but it was copied and pasted from the ESPN article so you can't blame me for that one.

Glad he was there! His lighting the torch at the Atlanta Olympics was one of the most moving and incredible things I've ever seen. When he lifted that torch I held my breath and prayed that he wouldn't drop it. He seemed so frail. When it was lit it was so symbolic. Still standing, still proud.

Is Ali a Tiger fan or something?

He has a 13 year-old son who plays baseball in the area. Took the entire team to see a Tiger game after they played.

Smokin' Joe Frazier's quote about wishing he'd have fallen in was hilarious.
