Interested to see if this is really Stafford asking to move on.

EDIT:  It appears Matthew did request it.

Love the Lynn hire.

It sounds like this Stafford situation didn’t happen today and has been ongoing.   I’d assume that Lynn knew before agreeing to the deal.

WOW, just saw this notification pop up on my phone.

I said this in the other thread that there were so many reasons to believe that Stafford was done here but seeing it confirmed is a bit surreal.

First of all, I don't like this news coming out now because it sort of telegraphs what they'll do at the draft and I also wonder if this weakens their bargaining position because he demanded out.  I need a little while to process this.

It wasn't like its a big secret that he was possibly gonna get moved. And he's a top 15 quarterback which always comes with a high cost, nobody just gives him away. Then you have plenty of teams that can use him. I don't think it being public does much to drive down the value.

Then there is this from Schefter:

The Lions are expected to receive at least a first-round pick, league sources said.

Brad Holmes going to be tested immediately.  First pick is choosing a franchise QB.  I suspect Trey Lance will be the next lions QB.

First  test of the new FO - what can they get in return.

Unfortunately probably less than if this hadn't gone public.

The silver lining is I believe Holmes can be a good GM and the Lions have good coordinators and coach. This is a better situation than Stafford entered as a rookie.

again, the league believes we'll get at least a first and they weren't' gonna get much more if it was kept "secret" - which is wasn't before this news anyway. It's a QB not a running back, they come with a premium price.

So it isn't guaranteed Stafford will be traded.

Kinda of no duh (no to you motown to Kyle) they're not just gonna give him away for a conditional pick

If you have two suitors you're golden. If you only have one and they know you really need to make the trade you are just in a weaker position. But that's life.

I think this is such an odd year where so many teams are interested in changing QBs that it won’t hurt the Lions to have it out there.   These teams will be bidding against each other.

NO, Indy, and possibly Pitt had HOF QB’s retire.   SF, NYJ, WFT, DEN would all be open to an upgrade.   NE doesn’t have a QB, DAL doesn’t have a healthy one, and Hou has put itself in quite a weird spot.   LV and NYG both have guys but nobody would be shocked if either chose to go a different direction.    This really is the ideal time for the Lions to maximize their value on a Stafford trade.

They will have suitors. Off the top of my head: Colts, Saints, Patriots, 49ers, Steelers, Jets, Washington.

Guess it will depend what the Lions consider is fair market value. Lions need at least a 1st.

I think fair market is a 1st and 3rd or 4th.  Lions would then have 7 picks in the draft including to 1st rd picks.

I would avoid trading with the Jets because they are likely trying to pawn Sam Darnold off in leu of a draft pick. I don't think you can completely write Sam Darnold off yet, but I'm not tying our future to him.

The Jets have lots of picks. I would take Darnold and a 1st.

Would you rather have Darnold though or a draft pick, for argument same we'll say a 2nd round pick?
