The Heat have been sluggish this year with the short turnaround after their long run in the bubble.  This could be a game the Pistons steal.

Just vaccinate them all.  I mean, they provide essential entertainment for everyone else who is stuck at home and their job is to come in contact with others.

NBA players + essential staff is probably only 1K people.  Maybe have the NBA make a massive donation to hospitals, testing facilities, or vaccination delivery funds in return for getting their vaccinations a couple months early.

Disagree.

Have all of the front line folks gotten theirs yet?

Where do we draw the lines for "essential entertainment"?  That could get quite ambiguous.

There are still higher risk populations out there waiting.  Make a donation to skip ahead in line?  That's a huge PR nightmare if that ever gets out in the public.  Don't get me wrong, the players and staffs are higher risk vs the same age groups because of the constant travel (all other variables held constant) and masking & distancing is impossible on the job activity.

This.  They're spreaders because their job is literally to be in contact with others without a mask.  Coaches aren't young either and they're constantly at risk as a result as well.

sure, but the players are low risk to have any complications.  and they are not catching covid because they are working an essential job helping others, they are getting it because they are out partying and cant keep their dicks in their pants for five minutes, let along five months.

again, if you want to make sure the players follow the rules, start making every player on the team miss a game check if one of them gets covid from something stupid.

see how long the nets players keep going out then.

of course that's the nets.  kyrie doesnt give a **** if his teammates hate him, they already hate him.

The problem is you don't know the exact transmission from one person to the next.  The masks, the distancing, the hand washing,.... it doesn't eliminate anything, but it sure does reduce the risk of transmission.

Have all of the high risk folks gotten theirs yet?

Where do we draw the lines for "essential entertainment"?

Where does essential entertainment fall on the essential industry spectrum?

I know.  That's why I posted his tweet.

It doesn't surprise me that any random person in the NBA would test positive.  And I'm not saying he is at fault, and you don't wish it on anyone before someone else.  But, jeez, why this guy, with what he's already gone through.

going out to a party or strip club and dancing around without a mask is a high risk activity, dont you think?

these dudes are rich.  even the ones on a minimum deal dont even have to go to the grocery store.  they have one job: go to work and go home.  they can have home gyms or buy whatever materials they need online.

but they dont.  do they?  if a pro athlete gets covid, im willing to bet that 90% of them do so from unsafe behavior.

Wasn't it just a few offseason ago where there was a contingent of NBA guys that were working on stamina with masks and treadmills?  These were bulkier kinds of masks than what everyone is wearing these days.  I seem to remember Reggie Jackson being photographed with one on.  Maybe the league needs to consider masking on court, too?

I would be inclined to agree with you, but they could just as easily get it from a kid/spouse at home.

Heck, the in laws came over for Christmas.  FIL had a mask on, MIL did not when they arrived.  I "invited" her to put one on after she had been here for 5 minutes.  I happened to be upstairs, my wife later admitted to me she just didn't think about it when they walked in.  Its a small chance, but its possible my MIL could have been a carrier and without her wearing a mask, transmitted to one of my kids or my wife even though they had masks on.

I know you've mentioned your daughter wearing a mask to dance.  If they take a mask break, one kid transfers to another, are you wearing masks at home with just your immediate family around?

I like the original Miami Vice jerseys better but I don't hate these ones.

The originals are definitely better.  I think they took a good idea and ...... sometimes you just need to leave well enough alone.

They could not have "just as easily gotten it from a kid/spouse at home."

Most of these guys aren't married, first of all.  And like I said, if they stayed at home, it wouldn't likely be an issue.  These are rich, entitled young men who are out doing things they shouldn't do.  I will bet you Lou Williams' wing allowance that is what happens 90% of the time with these guys.

Remember when all the kids went back to college and then covid flared up again because they were all going out and partying?  Now imagine that with all the kids making at least $500,000 per year.  That's the NBA.  This isn't mom coming over or the kid picking it up on the playground, this is NBA players living the NBA lifestyle.  Why do you think the NBA suddenly banned them going out on the road?  Because mom was coming over and bringing dinner along?  Come on Casimir....

Of course there are different activities that are going to be higher risk than others.  My point is you don't know where you are going to be exposed to it, so you do what you can do limit potential exposures.

Wow.  This one smells like a rainout.

So, the Pistons are probably in Miami now, probably traveled yesterday since they were off.  I wonder how they passed the evening and will it be reflective in a similar "injury" report?

Trade is still official.  It actually might have saved his life.  It at least allowed doctors to view it sooner since he probably wouldn't have another physical until the beginning of next training camp.
