Pistons played them a week ago today.

Boston is hurting.  3 guys were already out with it, now Tatum is positive as well.  I fear the season is about to get shut down.

I suspect you might be right.

The NFL was able to get through the regular season, although the schedule was shuffled and you had one game where a team had a WR as the starting QB.  There were numerous more postponements and cancellations in college football.  The pro to that sport is much more limited schedule and subsequent movement of teams in and out of metropolitan areas.

I would guess the travel and changing of environments in the NBA doesn't help.  Going from Detroit to Cleveland to Boston and back to Detroit for two games and then moving on to Chicago for two and back to Detroit in the span of 2 1/2 weeks and also playing face to face against opponents who've had the same type of schedule and the referees are on the court as well.  It doesn't necessarily mean everyone is going to get it, but the odds are just enhanced.  (And this assumes that all personnel adhere to the guidelines which, let's be honest about that).  Heck, how many college games have been postponed/cancelled already?

And just to be clear, I do think there is a difference in calling off an (mostly) amateur game vs calling off a professional game, as well as the college schedule is more regional and less strenuous than the nationwide NBA.

And what about the G league?  Is that going to be a variable in this?  They are going to have a bubble set up, but what about guys on two way contracts?  How does possible shuffling in between the NBA and G risk breaking the bubble.

Geez, so glad 2020 is over.....

Crap.  One of the Dallas players is Maxi Kleber.  Him and Luka are best buddies so I bet Luka gets this thing too.

I found out they are allowing fans at the games.

They are allowed to have 250 people in attendance.  Friends, family, celebrities, and they are inviting some season ticket holders.

Celtics are the ones that have Covid so I assume the headline was wrong.  Nope, Miami has it now too.

Defense stepped up in the 3rd and brought them back.  Down 6 entering the 4th.  Grant had 11 in the quarter and has 26 for the game.

So, I cannot recall the circumstances of publishing only a “first half” or whatever the exact amount of the schedule was.  Did the NBA mention specifically if it scheduled out only that far in case they needed to make a slew of games up, or just general uncertainty as to what to expect?

They are not announcing the second half until the first is over.  So I assume it was done to adjust things if it goes sideways.

Maybe this is a blip in the road, maybe it’s a sign of things to come, I don’t know.

I glanced at the Red Wings schedule and it seems like they have more of the “doubleheaders” scheduled than the Pistons do.  Maybe that’s the better way to go, maybe no East vs West matchups would have been wise.

The NBA was aiming for 72 games per team?  Kind of easy to question if they can get that many in now, but I guess we’ll see.

It will take a lot more than a few postponed games to pause the season, the NBA put a ton of work with safety protocols etc. to get this thing off the ground so I don't think this train will be derailed because of a few postponements. I'm sure they 100% anticipated this and will act accordingly to get these games in.

Also, keep in mind that this is coming right after the holidays so this is likely the peak for Covid. I would imagine that things will start to subside once we head into February, just have to weather the storm until then. I could be wrong but I think this is just a blip and it'll be fine.
