I think White is going to be fine, though he's probably out of position at PG. Patrick Williams looks like the real deal +++.

Had Williams lasted till #7 for the Pistons, it's interesting to think how that would have changed their course in the rest of the draft and offseason.

white is a shooting guard they're trying to turn into a point guard and it isnt working.  i suppose they hope he can turn into dearon fox or john wall but he's smaller than those guys and not as athletic.  he looks like a sixth man bench scorer to me.  like rose is right now.

williams looks very athletic and big, so naturally the bulls have him standing around watching lavine and white dribble and go one on five.

carter and markannen are just so soft.  they get pushed around so easily.  markannen didnt get an extension done and is probably on his way out.  porter is just cashing that last massive check on his way to veteran minimum status for a few years until he's out of the league.

Yeah can't argue with any of that. Although White's taller (6-4) than I think of him as, and he looks it this year - taller and leaner, and maybe more athletic. Or maybe it's the tighter hairstyle. Their bigs are soft except Gafford, who I think has potential but rough edges. And Carter should never approach the 3-pt line much less shoot behind it. Hutchinson impressed in the preseason; much more athletic and aggressive than before. Really liking Williams so far. Looks like FSU turned out a couple good ones in him and Vassell.

Jackson looked good again.  Plumlee did what he does, with a quiet 14, 8, and 6.

Hayes looked tentative again.  There's still nobody on this team that wants to (or is able to) drive to the bucket and collapse the defense outside of Rose.

Blake starting to remind me of Tay in his latter years when every time someone passed him the ball he'd pump fake (even though he was open) and then dribble into a worse version of the shot he could have taken initially.

Casey making me angry already:

--Took out Hayes out after a couple of mistakes in the 4th.  Kid only played 21 minutes.  He was clearly more concerned about winning the game and stuck his vets back in.  Blake played 35 minutes...

--No Bey sighting at all

--Sekou only played 13 minutes (and got 9 rebounds in that time!)

--Let's not even talk about his play-calling out of timeouts

Get ready for a lot of that this season and I knew it would happen. Casey is an old coach who will ride his vets into the ground.

I don't care if they lose a ton of games and that's actually preferable but to watch them lose with the vets hogging the majority of the minutes is going to make this season a huge chore to watch and I have little confidence that Weaver will try to or even want to move any of them.

The one positive to take out of this is that Jackson might be a player. He's always had the talent but lacked commitment. He seems really hungry to prove himself, impressed with his effort level.

One thing is apparent, the Pistons need starpower in the worst way, as if we didn't know that already. They probably have the worst best player in the league which is probably Rose at this point and I like Hayes but he doesn't have star potential. This draft is loaded with guys who have star potential although a lot of them are still pretty raw. Jalen Suggs looks incredible to my eye, he's my favorite in this draft.

Hayes made those two lazy passes that got stolen in the 4th but otherwise I didn't think he looked that bad.   By not bad I mean he didn't look completely out of place or have that "deer in the headlights" look about him.  Made some rookie mistakes but that's to be expected.   Definitely has to improve his outside shooting or else teams are going to continue going under the screens and forcing him to shoot.

I didn't see him in the preseason so maybe it was just this game but Sekou to me looked way less explosive than he did last year.  It was like he was playing with a weighted vest on or something.

Sekou looked much better against Minnesota.  He didn't look good this game and then got hurt.
