Too bad college coaches doesn't appear to mean Lincoln Riley. It looks like the Eagles are requesting an interview with Riley.

I wouldn’t want Lincoln Riley.  Really no college coaches I would want.

Only college coach I would be interested in is Harbaugh.

I would hire every college coach before Harbaugh.  He is the worst.

I'm not a fan of college coaches with no NFL experience. They rarely seem to ever work out.

Bill Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, Tom Coughlin, Barry Switzer, Dick Vermeil, Peter Carroll and yes, Jim Harbaugh all had a lot of success.

I saw a couple of talking head discussing that Urban Meyer has been putting out feelers to assistant coaches, lining up sort of a shadow potential staff.

Jacksonville apparently is getting frustrated as he isn't committing one way or the other.

Will the lions make a hire this week?   Doesn’t seem like a coaching hire will be made, GM could happen though.

I think the only way they make it this week is if their hand is forced by another org's offer on someone they really like.

Is there a reason the Lions haven’t shown any interest in Brian Daboll?  If they talked to Arthur Smith, then why not wait to talk to Daboll too.

Daboll is a former Patriot. The Lions may be done with former Patriots.

I'm glad they are bringing back Arthur Smith. I think that's the only head coach they have brought back for a second interview.

Daboll is clearly having success at other places though, unlike the host of other former Patriot Assistants who have not. If Daboll were on the Patriot's staff now I'd be an absolute and complete **** no. But watching what he's done with Josh Allen and the Buffalo offense is an amazing turnaround. Allen was one of the least accurate QB's coming out of his rookie season and Daboll has turned him into not only a guy who can beat you with his mobility, but with his arm and accuracy as well. I believe Football Outsiders has Buffalo as the 4th ranked offense in DVOA and Josh Allen is their 3rd ranked QB.

I mean, it's not like he did great things as offensive coordinator for Cleveland or Miami. Allen is the first talented QB he has had to work with. I haven't heard Daboll connected with a lot of other jobs so it may be because Buffalo is still in the playoffs.

Holmes and Smith are the only GM and coach to get second interviews. I would be happy with that combination. Maybe the Lions make a joint announcement after they interview Smith?

Listening to this Pride of Detroit interview with a Colts beat writer from the Athletic about Ed Dodds is crazy exciting. It sounds like Dodds is regarded league wide as a top scouting mind. Dodds sounds like a toughminded SOB to work for too. They said in the interview if you are a scout and you bring a player to Dodds in a meeting you better have your **** together and be able to backup and justify why you like this guy.

Genuine question here: Why do you think he's the worst?  I mean, his college resume at Michigan is certainly not good, but his pro record is pretty decent.  I mean, I'd take a 44-19-1 and 5-3 post season record.  But this is obviously only over four years, so might be a fluke of sorts.

I'm not saying I want Harbaugh at all... I'm just curious what your reasoning is given that his NFL record is good.

It would seem odd to hire the HC before the GM unless they are planning on the HC being the guy calling the personal shots.

Seems we're down to Holmes and Dodds. Wouldn't be disappointed with either.

I believe they were looking at bringing Jeff Ireland in for a second interview as well (I hope not). So Ireland may be a third name they are waiting on with the Saints still in the playoffs. I really, really hope it is Dodds though after listening to the POD interview with the Colts beatwriter.

Kind of seems odd that Dodds isn't getting as much consideration around the league. Has he been linked as a favorite to any team?

In related news, has Saleh gotten a second interview from a team other than the Jets?
