They just interviewed Saleh and now are interviewing Dodds after speaking with Saleh. Saleh may have decided on Detroit and that's why Dodds removed himself from the Panthers job. Besides, a cake was baked congratulating Saleh.

What’s the shelf life on that cake?

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2020/nfl-drafting-efficiency-2010-2019

When you look at Football Outsiders drafting efficiency table it shows Seattle as the best drafting team in the NFL over the last decade. Dodds was there for 7 years worth of those drafts and was (I believe) running their college scouting. Dodds seems like he has a great mind for the draft and eye for talent.

Dodds watched more tape on Richard Sherman than any player he's ever scouted, Quinn watched more tape on Teez Tabor than any player he's ever scouted.

Sounds like the Jets have interest in Pedersen.

if the Jets hire Pederson (I am guessing it was a scarcastic post)  and I am a draft pick, I am flat out telling the Jets "Don't draft me, I won't play for you".

You can tank a game without being so blatant about it, but he basically told his players, I know you're risking your health and getting beat up every play, but I don't care." and players don't get over that.

Pederson damaged himself severely.   If the higher ups told him to do it, he needs to make that clear, but I don't know if Doug Pederson gets any pro job coordinator level or high for awhile.

The guy won a Super Bowl recently with a backup QB who has stunk everywhere else and overachieved last season with a team that had injuries all over the place. Somebody will hire him pretty quickly I'd imagine despite recent events painting him in a negative light.

Not saying that he'd be my top choice for the Lions though.

That makes good sense.

This. If he's not a HC in 2021, he will be by 2022 or 23, barring more stupidity.

pederson lost the locker room by intentionally throwing the last game.  the sideline mutinied at that point.

its awfully hard to get that credibility back after that.  he can go to another team, but i doubt it would have been smooth with the eagles.

bears havent made a decision on nagy/pace yet.  so that could be another destination for a coach or gm.

It's Pat Fitzgerald's job if he wants it.

Is Nagy a bad coach or is it the situation he is in being stuck with Trubisky and Foles as his QB's?

i dont think he's done anything to demonstrate he is a GOOD coach.  he was brought in to fix the offense and was creative at first but then team's figured it out.  that team lived on a really good defense for his entire three year run.  his first year they got extremely lucky with turnovers and won 12 games.  been downhill ever since.

in his defense, he'a been saddled with a bad qb and a below average oline.  but the one good thing that qb can do is run and nagy put the schackles on him.  the one thing he cant do is read a defense and think quickly, which no coach can teach.  you cant teach stupid.  and biscuit (yes, thats his nickname) is stupid.

that said, he supposedly wanted nick foles and his gm went out and got him nick foles.  and he went 1-5.

the gm is the bigger problem to me.  he will forever be known as the guy who traded up one spot to get trubisky while passing over two future hall of fame qbs.  and he has done little to address the oline while the defense gets older and older (the bears had little draft capital last year and used it to take cole kmet out of nd and then signed old *** jimmy graham to play the same position).

btw, remember that ryan pace was the new orleans golden boy before terry fotenot was.  methinks new orleans wins because of payton and brees, much like new england won because of brady and belichick.

Super Bowl or bust, I like this guy's attitude. Something tells me he won't let this organization settle for "just ok" like it often has.

Just getting Dodds to agree to an interview is a win for this franchise.   If they could land him.  Wow.  That would be the best thing to happen to the Lions in a long, long time.

Bob Quinn fired Jim Caldwell because 9-7 wasn't good enough. Attitude means nothing if you can't execute.

He took out a quarterback who was 7-for-20 for just 72 yards in three quarters of football.  A fair question would be why did he wait so long to make the move?

And what is the opinion of his mostly awful players worth?  They haven't shown much aptitude for winning football games.  He's likely to land somewhere with a better future than Phliadelphia.

I’m Interested to see if Pederson goes full Col. Jessup on his way out the door or if he chooses to stay quiet about the tank game.

Gonna ignore the rushing stats and TDs?

Your argument makes sense until you realize he put Nate Sudfeld in the game.

Jets flying in Saleh for a 2nd interview.  Lions need to **** or get off the pot.  This is getting frustrating that they are waiting so long.  Hire Dodds today and then offer the job to Saleh.   They are gonna let the top targets get away because they are interviewing every human who has ever watched football.
