Would be about right for the Lions to hire a head coach with no input from their nonexistent GM. 😁

so SHF and Chris Spielman going to pre-select  draft choices for their GM too?

Lions aren't the only team to interview head coaches without a GM.

Anyways, betting odds seem to be on the Lions.

Just seems very counterproductive unless they name Saleh the GM as well. Which would be a very bad idea.

Saleh is a hot coaching candidate. If they want him they are going to have to act quick. I don't think they have time to hire a GM and then hire Saleh.

By Monday the Lions will announce Louis Riddick as their GM and Robert Saleh as their Head Coach.

I am sure they asked each GM who their #1 choice for this job is and they already know which direction to go

I believe they have completed all of their GM interviews.    It’s possible they make a hire tomorrow.

That's the new trend. Several teams have done it.

I predict Paton and Saleh. Them meeting with Paton in person was pretty telling, I believe he's the only GM they met in person thus far. Also, there's the Spielman connection with his brother working in the organization.

I know some people would hate that hiring because of the optics but the Vikings have had some really talented teams in the last 5 years or so, some of the most talented teams in the league I'd say, so I wouldn't hate it. Saleh seems like a foregone conclusion (although I think Bevell is a darkhorse if not Saleh) and I'm on board with it, it's pretty remarkable what he's done with the Niners defense this season with all the injuries. He seems like a real leader too, a real players' coach.

I am thinking Chris might actually be a darkhorse for GM.   But Saleh is the Head Coach.  They hired him yesterday.

I agree with this.  Patton does seem a little obvious because of Spielmans brother.  That’s not a bad thing, as you said, the Vikings have done well.  They draft well and they compete each year.

Saleh showed what he can do on defense even if the talent is eroded due to injury.  I’m hopeful that if they bring in Saleh that stafford is retained. A top 10 defense would make stafford a life so much easier.

They better announce it soon or else the cake is going to spoil.

It's also weird for him to interview for open jobs on Saturday if he already accepted the Lions' job.

What is it with so many of these Patriot front office people who are unable and unwilling to think outside the box ever?

This could be the worst coaching staff ever assembled.

Lol that would be hilarious.    Speaking of the Texans rumors are Watson is unhappy so the Texans may deal him.

The Lions certainly don't have the ammunition I would think but that situation could effect how the QB dominoes fall and what happens with Stafford.

I have no idea why Josh McDaniels gets so many opportunities. He literally drove his best QB and WR out of town and drafted Tim Tebow in the 1st round.

Maybe they have enough if you think outside the box. Does Houston want to win now? Dangle Stafford and the 7th overall pick and maybe some future picks.

Yeah if they really like Stafford and want to win now that could change things.  That would allow the Lions to offer them something that not many other teams could, a good QB, a current top 10 pick and perhaps future assets.   I just assumed though that if they were to dump Watson they would want young talent but who knows with their ownership.

If they're trading Watson because he demands a trade, that would be different than them trading him because they want to rebuild. I could see them thinking they could compete and Stafford still has a few years left in him.

Lots of terrible rumors floating around the Twittersphere this morning.   I’m not going to share out of complete disgust and the hope it’s all made up but they have to do with the Saleh and Marvin Lewis interviews and that one went very well and the other did not.
