Agreed. He is who he is. Age isn't on his side either and it's time to give a new regime the potential to move on and start fresh.

I think I'd leave it up to new regime.

IF they want stafford, I'm more than happy to keep him. If they like one of the Tier 2 QBs in the draft, they can take one too.

Yeah. I’m ok either way.  Stafford hasnt changed since year 2 basically. But this team has so many problems.  The new regime will need 2 years just to make the roster competitive defensively.

again, stafford is neither the problem nor the solution to this team's issues.

did you see tua suck today before getting hurt with a hip injury?  just sayin...

bob quinn is this team's problem.  he picked the players and hired patricia.  if you want to humor patricia and let him coach thanksgiving, that's cool.  its not like it will help and interim head coach to move in on a three day schedule anyway.  but you can fire quinn anytime and it will be ok.  he's out at the end of the year anyway.

before this year I was anti get rid of Stafford. Now its clear its gonna take a couple years. He'll be older. If they want him gone/he wants to go somewhere make it happen. Though I'm not sold on any Tier 2 guys this year. I'm leaning towards just signing a Mitch Trubisky for a season and picking 1 in 2022

I certainly don’t mind the idea this being stafford last year and going 1-15 next year.

Great result, exactly what was needed to sweep twittle dumb and twittle dumber out of here. If getting destroyed by a team led by an XFL QB doesn't get these morons fired nothing will. This was a classic "Fire the regime" game.

It's too bad that they won the Atlanta and Washington games that should have been losses. They could have been in a position for the new regime to draft the next QB, not so much now although it's a pretty deep QB draft.

It looks like they won't even get to that mythical 6-7 win mark I projected that would keep the bozos around. A Houston loss should certainly cement that with a tough finishing kick to the schedule.

Top QBs don't always go early. Multiple examples. But even if the Lions drafted the next Joe Montana, it wouldn't matter. They still wouldn't surround him with the proper talent. Or hire the right coach that would get the most out of the talent on the team. I agree with you, it hopeless and this is the biggest joke of a franchise in all the 4 major sports. I feel sorry for the talent we do get, we just waste or ruin their careers

The vast majority do.

22 of the current 32 starters were round picks (not inlcuding people lost to injury). 17 of them went in the top 10, and two more at pick 11 and 12.

Hoping to get a QB outside of the top ten is basically 95 percent luck

You cut the rest of it. Even if they drafted the next Patrick Mahomes, they would stink.

Cause that's a different issue. But, the whole idea of top QBs don't go early is a fallacy. The vast majority do. Finding Tom Brady was 100 percent luck. It wasn't like Bill saw some undervalued talent and took him. He passed on him 5 times too

1A and 1B.

I'm watching KC and being reminded how innovative their play designs are.

Edit: I'm also watching the playoff picture on NBC. Chicago "in the hunt" at 5-5, and the Lions wet the bed.

Peterson only had 7 carries? It seemed like he had 20. For 1 or 2 yards. All 7 of his carries seemed like they were on 1st down, for little gain. Maybe some shots down the field? If Matt can't throw the ball, put Daniels in there.

QB is one position. Take the GOAT and put him on the Lions with their lack of talent, inept coaching and horrible ownership and that GOAT wouldn't be the GOAT. He would be a good player who's talent was wasted. Billy Sims, Barry, Stafford, Calvin and our excellent kickers, Murray and Hanson. All wasted talents who never had any team success on a dysfunctional franchise.

Oh and Andre Ware, Joey Harrington, Ryan Leaf and Chuck Long were all very high picks.

Didn't Long get derailed by injury? He may not be fair to group here. Ware and Harrington were picked by the Lions so that disqualifies them as well :P.  Leaf - no question a lot of teams would have taken him and been wrong.

I'm overly negative and pessimistic when it comes to the Lions but I have done my best to hold off on criticizing Jeff Okudah all year. The guy is a rookie and it takes time to develop at his position. That said, he looks lost in the wilderness on the field. He played a season low in minutes yesterday versus Carolina.

he's been very bad all year.

cornerbacks take time.  oruwariye was god awful as a rookie and has been pretty decent this year.  but any thought of okudah providing immediate help were greatly exaggerated.

it also probably doesnt help him to be stuck with this coaching staff who hasnt been able to develop anyone on defense other than maybe romeo okwara and oruwariye.

jarad davis, teez, tavai, tracy walker has been dreadful lately, will harris, remember deshaun hand being good for a couple games?

terrible players or terrible coaching?

or both?
