2020 NBA Draft

I'm a big fan of what Weaver is doing. None of this dithering and half measures like previous GMs. He has a plan and he's cleaning house sweeping out the old regime which was a complete disaster.

I'm actually intrigued about the Pistons for the first time in a while. They have a foundation of young talent and I bet Weaver is far from done. I wouldn't be shocked if he moved Blake at some point during the season. This is the real change we've been begging for since Dumars lost his marbles.

Was looking at the roster this morning and I was like, "Why is Khyri still on this team..."

Thanks, Troy.

btw, nail in the coffin on Wood with these picks and trades.  They aren't spending the money on him.  I'm ok with that.

I wouldn't say that yet in regards to Wood. Apparently Dedmon is about to be moved again, seems like Weaver wants to clear cap space.

Yup.

I remember going back and forth with a few people on this board about how it's not possible to be this aggressive and their acceptance of the usual Detroit complacency.  So glad we finally have a GM who's kicking down some doors, cleaning house, and proving that this can be done.  Maybe it works, maybe the players don't pan out, but at least we're doing something and not standing in the middle of the road anymore.

and kudos to tom gores for letting him do it and no longer futzing around with trying to make the playoffs at all costs.

cant wait for the pistons to get good again and gores to retire his own number.

He got his Frenchie 2 drafts in row. That's "Lions winning the Superbowl" level of excitement for Buddha.

Pretty much. Maybe this strategy doesn't work but what we do know is that the old strategy wasn't working. The definition of insanity....well you know the rest. I, for one, welcome our new "Blowing **** up" overlord.

To be fair, didn’t we kind of have to wait for Drummond to exit before this type of thing could be done?

It’s great, though. I love a good housecleaning.

Waiting would have been one way.  I mean, with that mindset we could still have been sitting here waiting while Drummond picked up his option.

The other way is to be aggressive in a trade.  We finally did it and that's great, but it's something we should have done sooner.  Problem is the organization was still walking the middle of the road.  I'm happy we're no longer doing that and Weaver has come out swinging.

I'm no cap guru, but what I'm reading is that the Dedmon for Snell swap serves two purposes:

1. Free up an extra roster spot (Thomas)

2. Next year Dedmon can be included in a trade as an expiring for 13M, whereas Snell's contract doesn't work that way.  So, it's a better contract for the purposes of making further moves or to trade to someone else who wants to make further moves.

I think this is the key that finally got the ball rolling...

As long as Gores was **** bent for the playoffs we were stuck in the same rut, year after year.

I feel like there has to be a Blake deal about to go down.

Nothing bolted down (nothing should be), and the Pistons finally have a GM that appears to have a vision.

no surprise

This is excellent.  Dump the dead weight and get a fresh start.

So, who's left from last year?
Sekou
Svi
Rose
Griffin

i'm sure he would deal rose and griffin in a minute if he could.

the other two are young enough to stick around.  sekou is still young and might have an opportunity to get better.  and - even though he's french - i saw a lot of warning signs last year that worried me.  hopefully he shows some progress this year.  he is only 19.

I haven’t been this excited about the Pistons since before Platinum Equity became a on-court sponsor.
