2020 NBA Draft

Recommended Posts

shelton asks and he shall receive.

what do you think the pistons will do?  what should they do?

the answer is obvious to me.  draft kilian hayes at 7 and then trade back into the bottom of the first to take theo maledon.

i suspect i am the only person on this board who thinks that way...

I really don't have a strong opinion either way about any player.  I think Edwards and Ball have the best chance to be superstars out of the group but both have high bust potential as well.    I wouldn't mind taking Cole Anthony if they were to drop back in the draft(rumors are the Celtics are dangling their 3 1sts to move into the top 10) cause I think he has All Star potential.

But above all else I'd like to see them take a player similar to Sekou last year in the sense that he isn't going to contribute much this coming season but has potential to be a player going forward.  That way there is a better chance of us bottoming out next year and picking high in what should be a stacked 2021 draft.

Sounds good to me. Love the pro hoops.

I actually like being at #7.  I would disappointed with Ball, Edwards, or Wiseman if we got a top 3 pick.  Not the year you want to be in the top 3.  I have heard analysts say they really like the players projected for the second half of the lottery this year and I can get excited about a number of guys.  Any of Williams, Haliburton, Okoro, Okongwu, or Vassell sound good to me.  Maybe Haliburton is my favorite.

Weaver making moves.  Just hope the future pick is heavily protected.

Agreed.  I love getting another first round pick this year but that first round pick better be 2022 or later and as you say heavily protected.

As far as the 16th pick goes, I am a big fan of Achiuwa.  That's the first name that comes to mind in that range.

Protections on the pick going back to Houston: the pick the #Pistons are sending to Houston is HEAVILY protected. It's top-16 protected for the next four years, top-10 protected the following two years and then top-9 protected. After that, it becomes seconds.

Ariza's contract: looks like $7.3 of his $12 million is guaranteed.

I'm partial to Cole Anthony, I know his play last year doesn't support it but UNC played a brutal non conference schedule which I think hurt his stock.  I believe in his bloodlines(son of Greg Anthony) and pedigree(top 3 recruit in 2019).

That pick will convey to Houston when either the Pistons are good or are disbanded because they didn't make the playoffs within the next 8 years.

Good trade, love the protections on the 1st going the other way. My hope is NO TRADE UP for Ball and to take Williams and Lewis or Hampton at 7 and 16. I'm assuming they buy out Ariza now, if that's even feasible.

Nah they should trade up. Superstars are so much more important in the NBA then a couple decent starters. None of the guys at 7 and 16 have the superstar potentila of someone like Ball.

Agree. Ball could definitely end up being a bust but he does have superstar potential, the likelihood of you getting that at 7 and 16 is extremely slim.

I think a Ball, Sekou, Wood(assuming they keep him) and hopefully top 3 pick in 2021 gives you a potential foundation to build around.

There's no superstar in this draft.

Could be. But, doubtful. Candy man drafts are pretty rare.

But, even that shot is better for a reubuilding NBA club over two rotation guys. We've had plenty of rotational guys in the last 10 years, not many wins

Looks like the Pistons won't be trading up. Still think people are underrating Ball based on how his brother turned out and his small sample playing in a pro league half way around the world.   He has all the tools to be a superstar.

I see where you're coming from but I just don't see a big drop between the top tier and 2nd tier in this draft.

He has horrendous shot mechanics and plays no defense. Lonzo has similar playmaking skills with a better overall game and he's no superstar.

He could make me look dumb though, wouldn't be the first time haha.

It's the NBA trade are usually after the picks are made. NFL its before. NBA its after. Like in a half hour, Wojo will be like he's on the move

I haven't heard one person at all suggest Lonzo has a better overall game.

Patrick Williams off the board.  Guess that is not surprising given we are in the second tier now and he is the fastest rising prospect of late.

Disagree about his mechanics. His ft%(which correlates well to mechanics) was solidly above average,  his athleticism is better than Lonzo and his decision making appears to be better.  He had a 4 to 1 ast to to ratio playing pro ball halfway around the world.
