This just in... The Patriots stink without Brady.

And Tampa looks strong. He's doing this at 43. New system. No good prep due to COVID. Yet here are the Bucs, in contention. Does anyone still debate the GOAT?

Yeah - and you wonder if Belichick knows it. In twenty years he never felt the need do a national product endorsement, now he's all over your TV. Greasing the skids for a transition to 'ex-football coach/video personality' no doubt. 📺

I’m sure it was mentioned, but maybe not, but whoever the play by play guy was today, he was horrible with regard to awareness of the game situation.

then why watch the game?

Because I have Hock, Stafford and Golladay on my FF team. They helped me win this week.

On the final drive he started talking about Prater’s career long FG before checking himself (either on his own or his booth mate handed him a note) and noting that was irrelevant because the Lions were down by 6

I find it incredibly hard to believe that a guy with 10k posts on a detroit sports forum wasn't excited when the Lions win on a great last second play

He is consistently awful. And consistently assigned to the Lions.

Not only are the Bucs in contention, they have a case for being the best team in the NFC, blowing the competition away with a +80 point differential. (The Packers, by comparison, are +38.)

It’s like the role of NFL QB... as attractive and highly paid as the role is, you’d think there would be more people capable of doing it at a high level.

This makes me appreciate Vin Scully that much more. National treasure.

That was one of them for sure.

I think he also suggested that gurley meant to score because you never know what can happen on a FG snap.

And he also was really pushing for the lions not spike it at the very end.

he also called Matt prater by a different first name.

Also, I turned on the game after the two minute warning so this all occurred over a short period of time.

While Gurley erred, I think the TD is really on the Falcons coaching stuff. Why not just take a knee twice instead of risking a fumble, offensive penalty or accidental TD. Perfect position for a 27 yard FG attempt isn’t close enough, you really need to make it a 20 yarder?

I didn't say I wasn't excited. But I didn’t jump up out of my chair. I actually really did laugh. Believe what you want.

How about Agnew stop running the ball out of the end zone and costing the offense 10 yards.

Yes please!!  Same thing every week.  Either the ST coaching staff is unable to get Agnews to stop doing, or they are too stupid to tell him not to do it.  This is just unacceptable to me.

2nd Qtr: 2 yards deep, tackled at the 21.
3rd Qtr: 3 yards deep, tackled at the 14.

Two run out attempts that risk fumbles and/or penalties for a net gain of.... negative 13 yards.

Just cause I felt like, here's Agnew's season summary:

Week 1: Two times taking it out of the endzone, net +10 yards. (Yes, actually passed the 25 twice!)
Week 2: One attempt: -2 yards
Week 3: Two attempts: -7 yards
Week 4: Two attempts: -5 yards
Week 5: Bye
Week 6: No attempts
Week 7: Two attempts: -13 yards

I mean if  he was breaking for a big gain every now and then... doesn't even have to be a TD... just a good 20 or 30 yards beyond the 25 once every other game, then it's probably worth the risk and the few lost yards on the other attempts.  But this isn't happened.  Except in the first game against the bears he has NEVER even gotten tot he 25!

He's got a net +/- on kicks offs this year of -17 yards.  I wouldn't say that's awful, but it's still negative which means over all he's hurting the team when he tries to take it out of the endzone.  Now add in the risk of a holding penalty and the possibility of a fumble and it goes from a bad idea to a horrible one.

Unless the opposing team is known for giving up lots of yards on kick offs I would tell Agnew to never leave the endzone with the ball.

The Lions did play that Gurley play perfectly. If they had just stepped aside, he would have caught on in time and gone down before the goal line. Their soft tackling - on purpose or just because that's how the Lions tackle - allowed the TD to happen

I honestly expected to see Atlanta challenge the call.  How odd would that have been?  Seeing a team challenge their own TD to try and get it reversed?

I thought there was going to be a 10 second runoff on that replay and the Lions would have the refs say "game over" just like they did a couple of years ago.

Giving credit where due... I think this was handled the right way.  I understand the necessity of the replay booth having to wait until the last second to buzz in as you don't want to give the offense an extra TO.  And I think it was explained correctly why a 10 second run off what's done.  That's only done with an overturned ruling changes a stopped clock to a running clock.

Now on a side note: I wonder if they have overturned this call... would they have put time back on the clock?  I think they should have as the clock should have stopped as soon as the ball would have been called incomplete.

Is it not a penalty to challenge a touchdown or turnover because they are automatically reviewed? Or to challenge a call inside of 2 minutes, because those are all booth reviews?

I don’t see how the side note is even a question.
