As far as punishments meted out by Manfred the moron are concerned, Justin Turner will most likely be suspended and fined for joining his teammates on the field after winning the W.S.

The Houston Astros, acknowledged cheaters that they were in winning their WS, ...crickets.

Nobody is saying he shouldn't work again.  Apparently he is in high demand.  This "can't get forgiveness" theme was conjured up out of nowhere.  All I am saying is, let somebody else hire him.  He is damaged goods and an unnecessary distraction, and he is only a manager for Pete's sake.

I think you're overstating how big of a distraction he will be, I'm mean like you said he is only a manager.   He will be a little blip on the radar once baseball starts back up again, particularly with everything else going on in the world.

i saw that.  i thought it was terrible.  the kid did something bad as a 13 year old, or even as a 17 year old, let him apologize and learn something from it.  you have to ruin his life to sacrifice him on the altar of corporate PR correctness.

its horrible.  forgiveness is very lacking in today's society unfortunately.

Can't say I've read everything about this, but I've more than a little attention to it since the kid is from a Toledo suburb. It seemed to me that the kid never truly apologized. The other kid involved was in tears and issued a heartfelt apology, while the hockey player said nothing and only issued the court mandated apology.

Want a second chance? Earn it.

Presser on MLBN right now.

McCosky with the first media question asks the obvious.  Hinch doing well with the response, owning up to it, apologizing for it, making sure that people understand it’s a part of his history but not the Tigers’ history.  Apologetic that this is a part of today’s announcement, but understands what comes with it.

So, another 5-year plan.

Well, Sparky came in right at the huge influx of young talent breaking into MLB and after winning two WS's with the Reds.

Hinch is coming in right at the huge influx of young talent breaking into MLB and after winning one WS with the Astros.

That was my reference. But... you're right, it might be a 5-year plan. We don't know how quickly the kids can grow up or if Avila can successfully plug any gaps. But (again)... here's to hoping things go right. And since Sparky got two with the Reds and one with the Tigers... Hinch has to get us at least 2 WS wins (in a row).

That's my expectation.

Although I'd prefer 3 in a row...

Sounds like he is pretty cognizant of where the organization is.

Also says the White Sox did not interview him.

Not shy about referring to his suspension and termination as a suspension and termination.  Seems to me he ain’t beating around the bush with it or trying to sugarcoat anything.

Just mentioned he contracted COVID.

This press conference will be repeated verbatim at the start of every series on the road.

Maybe it goes differently in Houston.

Excellent presser! This hiring is going to be a game changer. Yes, you can see the pun there. Hinch is everything this org needs right now. As Casimer implied, he aced the questions in stride.

I can’t wait for spring training to begin!

then make him earn it.

say you have to do x, y, and z to be employed with us.  we want you to take certain training.  we want you to speak with professionals about what you've done.

dont draft the kid and then when this gets put in the press suddenly cut bait and act like you didnt know.

he's also a kid.  kids make mistakes and deserve second chances.

it wasnt conjured up out of nowhere, it was taken from repeated posts in this forum.

Glad to hear he took ownership of his past mistakes.  Own it, apologize for it (f warranted) and move past it.  Do not let a mistake define you.  Become a better man because of it.

I don't think you can build for World Series wins.  The Tigers were certainly good enough to win a series or two in the Dombrowski/Leyland era, but they didn't win the crap shoot.
