2020 Playoff Picks

Is there any other sport where salaries vary per team like they do in baseball? What Tampa did was incredible. Doing what they did with such limited financial resources? Sorry LA, Tampa's the story here.

Is booing Manfred a thing now?

It’s really a universal thing in professional sports—though not sure about the NBA

At least there was a Gibby reference by their owner. Sure, it was for the "88 Dodgers.

If the Dodgers dip into luxury tax land they'll be winning more rings

Justin Turner out celebrating with his teammates and their families despite two positive COVID tests.   There's even pics of him and other guys being right next to each other without either wearing masks.

I guess I don't understand how he was cleared to start the game, but then MLB must have had a hand in having him pulled from the game due to a test result, but then he's allowed to be part of the on field celebration.  How does this that make any sense?

And I get that it sucks for him to not be a part of the after game festivities.  But there are a lot of other people going through suck right now as well.

I’m glad this asterisk season is over. From here we’ll see what Manfred has in mind for the game. I’m not optimistic.

Looking forward to getting a manager hired in Motown and very interested in seeing where MLB decides to locate the minor league franchises and everything that goes with that.

To be just a little fair, Friedman reasoned that anyone he came in close contact while on the field was part of their bubble already.

He didn’t suddenly become contagious in the 8th inning.

Friedman said they are all going to go into the contact tracing and testing program so that whoever else has it won’t be spreading it.

Probably true about the bubble thing, but I suspect the bubble wasn't completely impermeable.

That said, considering the early on issues with the Marlins and Cardinals, I am surprised that they pulled this off without any other major issues.

I first guessed the decision to take Snell out.  I know that Cash was a big reason they even got that far, but that was the killer.  He WAS being a little erratic before he gave up the hit, but there is no way I take him out.  I know Buch said something like "when the other team is happy you made a pitching change...may not be the best move."  I could not have agreed more...do you think LA was upset that Snell was leaving?

He'd have thrown at you before you crossed the foul line.

Has Manfred had a stroke? He was slurring his speech.

If by “stroke” you mean a couple of martinis, then yes, he had a stroke.

Imagine coming out to get Bob Gibson after 73 pitches. He’d have disemboweled you.

Only tangentially related to this, one of my favorite baseball stories is the time Tim McCarver came out for a mound visit with Bob Gibson, and about halfway there Gibson says, “Get back behind the plate! The only thing you know about pitching is that you can’t hit it!”
