!!  Whoa...that is crazy

Charboneau gave himself a root canal once using toothpicks.   Not joking, he used TOOTHPICKS to give HIMSELF a ROOT CANAL.   That didn't work so he drank half a bottle of  booze,  got some vice grips and used a razor blade to cut around the gum and pulled the tooth out.   He used chewing tobacco to pack it and keep it from getting infected.    That's just nuts.    He couldn't afford a $250 root canal, but spent $300 on a pet alligator, who bit him more than once.  His wife made him get rid of "Choppers" when the gator tried to eat her kitten.

Who is going to play First Base?     Is there a chance that The Can Opener could actually make this team?

The best bet is Renato Nunez

I don’t know where this belongs, but do yourself a favor and carve out 29 minutes to watch this.  So many amazing things happening here.

I would skip over the ten-minute intro, but It's always good to hear Sparky.  It's mostly BS, but Sparky's BS is the best BS.

Don’t skip a thing—the opening graphics package, former 80’s Detroit era guests, Ron Cameron’s sweaters, local commercials, Sparky talking about Darnell Coles’ mental state, etc.. are gold.  If you didn’t live through the 80’s, you might not appreciate it as much.

Thank you for posting. Tons of memories. Sparky didn’t have the first wrinkle in his face! Good interview and Sparky was Sparky.

I lived through the 80s.  Those were my baseball glory days!   I am not from the Detroit area though, so that may be why I didn't care for the intro.

The commercials are the best.  The pagers!  Duggans!  The horrible Michigan accents!

Even for 87 that music and opening graphics looked way out of date.

I think we forget how long ago 1987 was sometimes.

Best looking waitresses? Crushing import cars? Fabulous stuff.

Every year I buy ONE pack of baseball cards and that's it.  The first Tiger I come across is my Tiger for the year and this year it's Tarik Skubal.      I bought a 40 pack and I got this chrome card, looks like a real autograph from Dylan Carlson.   I should probably hang on to that one?   I don't know, I don't "collect" anymore.

But here is my 40 pack Roster for 2021...............Do I have a good team?

PITCHERS
Albert Abreu
Chris Archer - starter
Ryan Castellani
Aroldis Chapman m- closer
Jack Flaherty - starter
Tony Gonsolin
Jakob Junis - starter
Sean Manaea - starter
Luis Patino
Tarik Skubal - starter
Jose Urena
Shun Yamaguchi

CATCHER
James McCann

INFIELDERS
Jake Bauers (teaching him how to play Catcher)
Bo Bichette  SS
Jeimer Candelario 1B
Brandon Drury
Mauricio Dubon
Maikel Franco
Leury Garcia  2B
Josh Harrison
Manny Machado  3B
Adalberto Mondesi
Matt Olson
Miguel Rojas

OUTFIELD
Charlie Blackmon CF
Lorenzo Cain
Dylan Carlson
Yonathan Daza
Avisail Garcia
Bryce Harper RF
Kyle Lewis  DH
Juan Soto  LF

LINEUP
Soto, lf
Blackmon, cf
Machado, 3b
Harper, rf
Lewis, dh
Candelario, 1b
McCann, c
Bichette, ss
Garcia, 2b

I should make this my OOTP 22 team.

Wow. Ron Cameron. There’s a blast from the past.  He used to own a greasy spoon in Dearborn on Telegraph. A friend of mine ran into him and he was trying to recruit sports fans to work there.  He wanted to make it into a joint like the Lindell AC.  He gave him his number and wanted me to call him so I could work there in college.

Now I feel old. I'm older now than Sparky (50) was during the '84 series. Ugh.

Another ******* stupid ******* tweet from the person who is single handedly running what used to be my favorite website into the ******* ground.

Who were those multi-year deals given to?  How did they work out?

I'm around the same age as Tom Kelly in his first World Series win.  Ac ouple years younger.

Grady was in his mid 40s on Sanford and Son.  Heck, Fred was in his early 50’s.

but people back then looked older. I’m convinced.  My wife and I do that all the time when watching old shows.

I am sorry for being stupid, but what is *your* point about multi year deals?

Wow!  I would have thought that they were in their 60s.  Interesting.

They can backfire and it's not a bad thing the Tigers haven't had one in a while. Craig and the rest of BP (except @Microline133 ) are just shills for the MLPBA now.

I think I read the other day that the last year the Tigers agreed on a multiyear contract was in 2015.

...and then I read sabretooth’s post above. Sorry about that.
