True

While pitcher get hurt that doesn't mean you can't draft em. Every winning team has pitching and lots of it.

And its hard to build a winner in round 7 of the draft where one guy every year amounts to something.

The dodgers just won a lot of games and the entire staff and closer are homegrown. One of their major bats was traded for and turner was an off the scrap heap signing.

People get too hung up on the cubs model. Sure it brought them a championship but like every other model in three years it was completely over.

The trick is to find one crazy good pitcher and one crazy good hitter to build around. If you got that your usually pretty good. The whole have too much of one or another is just noise. Oh no you have too many pitcher good thing traded are allowed and you can sign a free agent. Oh no you have too many good hitter. I bet that cheap team will like one for their pitcher 2 years from free agency.

Sunday’s is for sure.  I believe that the first 3 or 4 are.

The problem is it seems like the first couple of radio broadcasts of spring training are not high quality.  Essentially it’s spring training for the radio employees as well.  But, it’s certainly better than nothing, and I’ll be happy to tune in.

Not sure its "spring for them too" but I can't imagine its worht the cost for 97.1 to send a whole crew down there. It's probably Dan and one dude. It jsut takes time to get everything where it needs to go.

During the short season weren't they doing the radio for the away games locally from the video feed? Or was it the televised games? In any case, a lot of games were covered by guys that weren't at the ballpark last season. Wouldn't be surprising if that continues.

Oh i think that will defeinitly continue. At least till more fans are back in the stands.

But even in good years, I can't imagine it was worth it to send the full crew down to Fla. to run the radio opertaion. If it takes you a bit longer to put all the cords in place and what not, that's ok if the quality isn't as great the first couple of games.

A one word post gets an essay for a response.  Words can be powerful!

Sure, that very well could be the case to have a skeleton crew for spring training.  That could especially be the case given COVID.

It was more the universal idea and was too lazy to quote the entire conversation.

I was quoting someone who said all pitchers are a a big injury risk which is true!  He had been quoting someone who said he was worried that Rocker would be an injury risk.  I don't think that portion of conversation was suggesting they should not draft a pitcher with the first pick, just that pitchers are an injury risk.

That being said,  I like when the Tigers draft a hitter with their first pick, but if there is a pitcher who is obviously the best choice, they should draft the pitcher.   I am am hoping the third pick presents them with an opportunity to draft a top hitting prospect, but it very well may be the case that a there is a pitcher there that is too good to pass up.

8+ strikeouts in 6 of 8 starts does not sound impressive to me.  I am not saying he wouldn't be a great pick.  It's just kind of an odd stat.

At first, I thought this was some weird thing they were doing for Covid.  Then I figured out you were kidding.

The best thing about Rocker's start is that he threw 67 pitches, which is unheard of in college. Kudos to his manager for watching out for him.

Casey Mize had a SO/9 of 12 his last year.

That sounds a lot more impressive.  Also, only 1.3 BB/9

Rocker has 11.1 SO/9 in his college career.  That also sounds more impressive than 8+ K in 6 of 8 games.
