Rick Anderson is atrocious.  I’ll be bummed if he and Lloyd are part of the Tiger’s future.  I may even move to Canada.

If you only go to Windsor it won’t help much.

I agree about Anderson, its hard to say what influences he has had on the terrible Tigers pitching but at the very least no pitcher has really improved under his watch save for maybe Norris so with that in my mind I don't see how you can keep him.

I also agree that Hinch should be the guy if he wants the job.

I think AJ Hinch is a no-brainer if he'll come here. For one, it's not like he's done forever, someone will sign him. Also, I'm pretty sure it was found that he didn't really have much to do with the whole cheating scandal, other than knowing about it and not stopping it. Not to mention if he did anything like it again, MLB would just ban him forever, so...

Plus me and him both have psych degrees from Stanford, so we're PRACTICALLY related.

You guys really think a team will hire Hinch a year after getting busted as the skipper of a team that cheated the way that they did? I do not.

If they wanted him suspended for more than a year, they should have suspended him for more than a year

I'm with you. I don't see it any universe. This is the sport were Pete Rose and Barry Bonds are still on the outside looking in.  Hinch's way back is going to be through taking a bench coach job somewhere.

I heard just a couple of minutes of Gardenhire talking to Jon Jansen this AM. Jon asked him a question about what was different in Det vs MN. Gardy answered that in MN he never saw the GM, but that Avila was in his office every day wanting to be up to date on every aspect of what was going on and talking about why he (Gardenhire) was doing what he was doing managing the team. At first it sounded like it was a complaint but in the end he said he that involvement with Al was something he was going to miss.

In other words, he was complicit in the cheating and no better than the worst of the bunch. Hinch was an enabler by allowing it. He was the freaking MANGER and knew full well his team was cheating and didn’t have the balls to stop it. He wasn’t some towel attendant with nothing else to do. Any responsible commissioner would have ended his career.

I want my manager to cheat, just not get caught.

I honestly fail to see how this cheating scandal is any different from the tens of other cheating scandals, except it is recent.

Kenny Rogers was caught cheating in a World Series game and I don't think anyone holds that against him.

I didn't say he didn't cheat, he did. If I'm working on a group project and my partners cheat to get us an A, if I knew, I cheated too - especially if I'm the group leader in this crappy analogy.

I'm just saying if the (arguably non-responsible) commissioner didn't end his career, I think he's a valuable manager in addition to being an ex-cheater, and I don't think it drags an organization down to recognize that and be his landing spot. Also, not a soul in this town will care if he comes here and wins.

I hope they hire Hinch.

I hope they hire Hinch so all of the people who claim they'll never root for cheaters are forced to root for the Tigers with a "cheater" running the team.

I hope they follow that up by hiring Alex Cora as their first base coach.  ****, make Barry Bonds the hitting coach.

Granted he didn’t cheat that I know of but this town took on Chris Chelios as their own.   They will embrace Hinch. I hope they hire him too.
but Chris won’t.

I don't really see the parallel with Chelios. The hate for Chelios was the flipside of the respect for his effectiveness as an opponent. That said, the team could hire Simon Legree and the fans would cheer when he takes out a line-up card. But I'll still wager an internet beer Avila isn't even going to look at Hinch.

In most cheating cases, it is (or largely appears to be) an individual acting on his own accord, usually as much for his personal benefit as for "the team, the team, the team".  The difference in Houston is that it was pretty much an institutional problem, seemingly sanctioned by the organization and tolerated, if not encouraged, from the top of management on down to the players.
