They probably won’t make the playoffs, and they probably won’t be bad enough to get the pick we want. So we might as well just root for them to win even though our hopes and prayers won’t have much of an effect upon it.

This guy the Tigers are facing today is pitching his first major league game. Now in the past when the Tigers had a roster of all star players and this situation presented itself they were often left scratching their heads because this was a guy they had never seen before and they just couldn’t figure him out.

I’m making a cautious bet that given how everything is weird and prone to random fluctuation this year that this lesser team the Tigers are fielding, compared to our past star studded teams, will result in them actually hitting this guy. So my eyes are on Turnbull to see if he can keep the lead this version of the Tigers should give him according to my wild imagination.

Forget about the lions. Last title like 1957 ?

Not much difference between 1957 and 1984 at this point.  Both are pathetic.

He threw 36 pitches in the first inning!

I’ve been at lunch with a friend and haven’t been able to follow this, but the wheels haven’t fallen off either truck yet

Can we stop talking about playoffs?  This team can’t capitalize on a pitcher who hasn’t pitched above A ball.

Just play the kids now.  Paredes at 3B, Castro at SS, Cameron in RF.  Time to call up Rogers and have him split with Romine the rest of the way.

Get a top-10 pick again.

I choke when I see James McCann’s .320 BA even though it’s in just 21 games and even though it’s just BA.

Two weeks into September and the Tigers have not been mathematically eliminated.

If only every season were 60 games.

Initially I thought this season would be marginally better than last but the team is more than marginally better so my low expectations have been exceeded. This is a life lesson. I should pad it out, write a book, and go on Oprah.

So the consensus now is that Avila is so awful that the only way we believe that he can get a good player for more than a 1 year rental is to have a top 5 draft pick in the 1st round.

Not 100% consensus. Finally built a metrics dept, signed some hi-ceiling international guys and may have had a very good draft in 2019. If you listen to other team's feeds both the White Sox and Twins announcers see positives with Detroit's process. They took a step this year. I think 75 wins isn't out of the question for 2021 and hopefully in the thick of things by 2022. That is, if Illitch shows a true willingness to add some FA talent that could stay with the team.
