8/25 @7:10 Chicago Cubs vs Detroit Tigers

Recommended Posts

that was a bad play by Jones. He had plenty of time to get into better throwing position and make a better throw. He might not have gotten him but it should have been a lot closer. It's about a 280' throw at ~ 80-90 mph vs the runner going  90 ft at ~20 mph.

80-90 when it leaves his hand, but it decelerates quickly after that.

true, but the runner has to accel then slide. CF to 2nd should at least be a competitive play for an arm that used to play short.

I like getting Trunbull out after the 2nd out. That little let down after getting a big out can be fatal at 90+ pitches.

I wonder whether Turnbull throws another pitch for the Tigers.

I agree.  At 3-0, it looked rough.

Is he too young to deal?  I suspect this has been discussed in depth elsewhere on the board, so forgive the asked and answered query.

Turnbull looks pretty good, and pitching will probably be at a premium with so many teams making the playoffs.

Schoop has been a good find, i hope they can trade him and get some sort of decent return.

hopefully; not sure who needs help at 2b, but universal DH means he fits almost anywhere

Looks like we’re getting to that point where they’ll bring in Joe Jimenez. They’re paying him $10 million a year and they have to do it just as they’ve always done... Oh wait…

Jeez Bert - you scared the heck of me there.

He's still only 25, I don't know if you give up on him, but he doesn't need to be closing. He never has  outright earned it.

well, now they are 5-10 at home.  Get it to .500 at home at least by end of season.

Just need to catch the Blue Jays and Orioles and we are in the playoffs.  Two games out.  Who is going to tell me we can't catch the Orioles and Jays?
