Reyes with two reasonably nice catches and a double so far. what horror awaits us to balance it out?

Reyes has already had a good game, 2 nice catches in LF (of which i think Stewart catches neither), then a good AB where he fought off some tough pitches and then doubled to LC.

It's because they battle and compete.  Gardy has them playing the game the right way.

it's The Will to Win, Hawk Harrelson's favorite metric.

25 pitches in 2 innings for Turnbull.

60 pitches/2 innings in his last outing vs the Sox.

Reyes is showing a bit of improvement at the plate.

I don't know, maybe he ultimately is only a complimentary OF at best.  But I think sometimes he gets considered to be not much more than AAA fodder.

Hey Ron, Candy and Nico should NOT be hitting back to back...it's an absolute brutal black hole in the lineup.

Candelario is a bit BABIP inflated, but it ain't like he's been awful lately.

I would consider relegating Goodrum to utility moving around the IF and giving CastroW the starts at SS.  Dropping Goodrum in the lineup would be fine, but I wouldn't be adverse to using him as an everyday player.  Between the 4 IF spots and DH, he can get plenty of PAs.

Candelario's issues are that he doesn't hit well enough for a 1B of his current defensive caliber, and there isn't enough offense throughout the lineup.

I agree he has been better lately, and def helped against Cleve, but damn, that swing at the pitch, in that situation, was no where near the zone...you cant have the 4 hole with bases loaded and less than 2 outs, have such an awful AB...at least put the ball in play, or K on an actual good pitch whre the guy simply beats you with some filth.

Maybin still looks like the best athlete on the team when he comes to the plate.  The high socks help too.

I'm not watching, so I didn't see the swings.  Bases loaded and less than 2 out, yes, the ball needs to be put into play (but not a double play).

Candelario has probably earned a little rope, Goodrum and Jones are definitely falling into old habits. I'd like to see W. Castro's bat in the line up more but not the scattershot infield arm.

Well, Castro will eventually be over at 2B when Lindor is acquired, so assuming Schoop is one and done in Detroit, he can just slide over there next year.
