the sox also traded adam eaton for lucas giolito, dane dunning, and reynoldo lopez the same winter they dealt chris sale.

who did we get for JD Martinez again?  oh, that's right...

Stewart is absolutely atrocious. Can we concede yet that he’s not an MLB player? Can’t hit a fastball and obviously can’t field.

Adam Eaton signed a 5 year / $23,500,000 contract with the Chicago White Sox, including $23,500,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $4,700,000. In 2020, Eaton will earn a base salary of $9,500,000, while carrying a total salary of $9,500,000. Eaton's adjusted salary with the Washington Nationals is $3,518,519

The Nationals got 5(!) years of control.

The Tigers are bad and didn't have any good young/cheap/controllable assets to trade. Or they overvalued mediocre assets and the asks were too high.

Three more years after this of watching the sad ending to Cabrera’s career.

I don't think a winning team can keep a space open for him.

Stewart can not hit the fastball. Next.

That has been the knock on him from the beginning.

I guess everyone but the owner can be punished or chastised in this world.

Seems like the Tigers and Miggy are a good match in that case.

This team isn't as bad as you think.

They won't lose 120 games to be sure.

Yes, they’re even worse.

and they waited too long on the assets they had. It's not like you can't count the mistakes that separate them and the WhiteSox.

  • Don't extend Cabrera
  • move JD and Nick each at least a year earlier if they weren't part of your long term strategy
  • Sign Porcello before you trade him so you can turn $$ into good prospects instead of a rental of Cespedes.
  • Pass on Zimmerman

just those differences give you more money and prospects to work with- and maybe you don't even have to give away JV. Still, even given all that, Avila has had enough time that it should be turning around by now. If if turns out the org has been over-hyping the current crop coming up as badly as they once did Steven Moya et al, I may end up a Dodger fan again......

i remember microline telling us that two years ago.

when they first came back for the restart training, it looked for a couple of games like he had shortened his swing, but whatever that was seems gone now.
