After McCann lined out it would’ve been the prudent move to take him out. But he has to execute better on Robert. He has to execute better, period. He’s been absolute dog **** so far this season.

Huge mistake by Schoop not knowing where the bag was................

I guess it's a good sign that I am really pissed off right now................that I hold this much interest in a Tiger game on August 12th.

By the way, this was the date in 1994 that the season ended............I will never forget that.

Idk why people thought boyd was good just bc of k’s.  He has alway had a high era and walked a ton.  Also why is Stewart batting cleanup and not Candalario?

Just an absolutely terrible outing by Boyd.

Id like to see someone else get a crack at starting next time around. He’s been given 4 chances. This is glorified batting practice.

God why didn't we trade this guy for something last year. Anything. I guess hindsight is 20/20. Ugh. Can we just tell Boyd to not bother coming to the park anymore? For at least the rest of 2020? He is so bad that it would be addition by subtraction at this point.

One of the signs you know a pitcher has no confidence is how long it takes him to throw the ball and Boyd's been taking forever.

Soto is the opposite.  Get it, throw it.

I don't think its a hindsight thing.  I think a lot of people last year saw that you had a left handed pitcher, who wasn't a power arm, but striking a ton of people out and had several years of team control and thought a lot of contenders would LOVE to have that in their rotation and since we knew this team was targeting 2021 or 2022 to compete again, why not trade him?

I think Case Mize cares.  Maybe his mom and dad, etc.

More than just him and his mom and dad care. Fans care, too.

Our rotation is a mess. Boyd is practically pitching himself out of a job, M Fulmer and Norris are short inning openers, Alexander got roasted in his lone start, Rony Garcia is pitching like a typical Rule V guy, and Nova is almost certain to be traded as long as his ERA is under 6, because pitchers are dropping like flies around baseball. Spencer Turnbull is the only consistently good starter we have right now, and he probably hasn't quite established himself as a reliable ace just yet.

Casey Mize is quite possibly (probably?) the best starting pitcher in the system right now, and Matt Manning is not far behind. Sixteen teams are going to make the playoffs this year, with at least a couple under-.500 teams certain to be among them. A quarter of the way in, we still have a puncher's chance to get to the playoffs.

Assuming we keep winning three or four games a week, which would be a gift, bringing in both Mize and Manning sometime in the 1-3-week-from-now range would be a clear signal by the Tigers that they are taking this seriously and are increasing our chances while we can. Because if we're still in the hunt of September 1 and they're not doing everything they can to get us into a playoff spot just so they can save a few dollars in 2026, then what the h*** do we have a major league baseball team for?

Now, if the Tigers lose 10 of their next 12, that's a different story. But if we're within a couple games of the eighth spot for the playoffs on, say, August 26, they should bring Mize and Manning up and go for it. S***, man, that's exactly what we drafted them for!

I totally agree on Mize. They have a nice veteran catcher in Mize and a pretty solid defense behind him. It isn’t like they’re bringing him up to play on a 115 loss team and throw him to the wolves

Wow.............Boyd is done.       Why didn't they trade him when his value was super high?

If Boyd's value was actually ever super high, Gleyber Torres would be our starting third baseman

Seeing Boyd now...it makes me a little ill knowing they probably could've fetched a decent return on him. Instead like mentioned earlier we get to watch him serve up BP for opposing teams now.

On the bright side, no tigers baseball tomorrow, and Nova is going to get destroyed on Friday.

Even if they lose 10 of 12.............Bring him and Manning up.   Let them learn THIS year.     Then maybe with a little experience at the start of next year, we might have something.   They are now past the point of losing that service year.............WHY NOT !?!?!?!?!

Boyd was one batter short of getting through 5 and maybe a win the last two games. That's not saying much and he has been sliding for some time but he will remain in the rotation and will get better. Too bad Avilia over valued him and did not trade him during his roll but at this point just let him pitch.

But there’s another speedbump. Super Two status. Mize is still eligible for that and would join Matthew Boyd and JaCoby Jones in that group. It allows players between 2-3 years of active MLB status to go to arbitration earlier.

It’s another financial consideration that could significantly bump up the timeline for the Tigers to pay him more – and sooner. Arbitration that, when it comes, is expected to favor Mize if he performs to expectations.

And right now, it is approximated that Casey would have to miss 27 games this year in order for the Tigers to delay his arbitration process until after the 2023 season. We’re talking August 20th more or less.

He WAS really good. He's not right now because his slider and fastball have regressed, and his command isn't there, yet. Why? We don't know.

In Verlander‘s first season I remember his modus operandi was have ball/throw ball, have ball/throw ball, have ball/throw ball. I don’t remember ever having seen somebody work that fast.
