NHL 2020 Post-Season: August 2020

Recommended Posts

Play-in round started yesterday with a quintuple-header. Another today.

Oilers got blown out Saturday. Must be angling for the #1 overall pick, as usual.

Habs beat the Pens in OT. Must not want to make it too obvious that they would prefer Lafreniere to a play-in round victory.

Leafs ruin a perfectly good sunny August afternoon by beating Columbus 3-0 to tie up their play-in series at 1.

Great start today to the true 1st round of the playoffs.

Dallas had a 6 on 4 in the final minute trying to tie Calgary, but the Flames held on.

Tampa and Columbus are now heading into the 5th OT! Tied 2-2. Tampa has taken 83 shots on goal.

TB/CBJ was insane.

Scoreboard even announced a 7th period stretch midway through the 4th OT.
Boston-Carolina being played right now, pushed back from last night.

Vegas the first team to make it to the 2nd round of the actual playoffs, eliminating Chicago last night.

Washington made a stirring comeback from 2-0 down to stay alive in their series with NYI.

5 games today. Like the Caps, the Jackets seemed about to be eliminated but have taken a 3-2 lead into the 3rd against Tampa after trailing early.

Great forecheckers. Was a pretty lopsided Game 7 despite it being scoreless for the first 54 minutes.

Not a huge hockey guy but watched some yesterday.  Pulling for the Islanders only because my beloved Shannon Hogan works for them but they got destroyed.

Many of Yzerman's picks looked real impressive, hopefully that bodes well for some of the Red Wings he drafted the past couple years.

Tampa goes for the Cup tonight.

https://www.tampabay.com/sports/lightning/2020/09/24/lightning-fans-screams-prompt-visit-from-police/

A misunderstanding over a few Lightning fans' passion for their team during the Stanley Cup final Wednesday night produced a scene in Tampa rife with cops and, in the end, comic relief.

Devon Garnett, a bay area super fan of sorts recently profiled by the Tampa Bay Times, was watching Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final Wednesday evening with two buddies at Radius Palms apartments near USF. In one first-period sequence, when Victor Hedman controlled the puck in the Lightning’s offensive zone, the friends began screaming, “Shoot! Shoot!” at the TV.

Evidently, that prompted a neighbor to call police. Minutes later, a handful of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies were at their doorstep.
