It feels weird to actually gain ground on the sux, seeing as it just has not happened in the last few weeks.

If we could do it two days in a row, that would be incredible. The white sox really, really struggle against KC. It's weird, they shouldn't, but they do.

    Go Bruce Chen!

Was reading some Orioles threads....they are really carrying on about those calls last night. Now, IMO the overturning of the call at 1st was ridiculous. Not because of the actual call, because we ALL thought he was safe in real-time (Detroit and Baltimore broadcasts show this)....only slow-mo replay suggested he may have JUST kept his foot on the bag. But because you dont overturn a call like that after its been made. Never seen it happen before, dont know why it was done. But other than a few extra pitches from their starting pitcher and a few ejections, it didnt affect the game. They also keep referring to the play at the plate as a missed call. Now THAT one, I think the right call was made. In real-time he looked safe, but when you watch the replay his foot is in the air NOT on the plate until AFTER hes tagged. Also, someone made a comment about how calls dont go against big market teams, and thats so untrue because as we all know, the Tigers were hosed repeatedly earlier in the year. To be quite honest with you, Im hoping this last month and a half of play features many more blown calls go our way. Ideally thats not the way you want to play the game, but if they want "human element" than it needs to balance out. And while weve had a couple bad calls go our way in recent weeks, we need a LOT more to balance out the disastrous calls the first half of the season. And if its true that the Orioles have been getting hosed repeatedly as well, then Im sure they too get some karma calls go their way (hopefully not til Monday LOL).

Yeah I could see being upset about that blown call but like you said it probably didn't have any effect on the game. Sure Reynolds got ejected but it's not like he's Miguel Cabrera or something, plus it's his own fault for getting ejected by acting the way he did. I'm still not sure about that call at home though, Markakis leg was definitely above the plate but I'm not so sure that Avila got him with the tag before his back legged touched, I couldn't really tell. It looked to me like he may have whiffed on him. As far as blown calls never going against big market teams, I guess they were under a rock when we had a pitcher jobbed of a perfect game 2 years ago.

    Freep Tigers ‏@freeptigers
Beginning tonight, Tigers due to face LH starter in five straight games. This could mean a lot of Baker and not much of Boesch.

    Freep Tigers ‏@freeptigers
Tigers faced LH starters in five games before All-Star break and won them all. That 5-0 run at home started current 17-3 streak at home.

I dunno, when Jackson made that catch to save the perfect game he was pretty good. I understand he's just trying to be professional but I'd like a little more homerism from him

It was maddening. If you were going to overturn a call, do it at the end of the Galaragga perfect game.

This is a new thing with the recent CBA. This mechanism wasn't in place for the Joyce blown call so it wasn't a possibility. I don't like the new policy and they sure blew it last night.

So, the 5 spot in the lineup is pretty much a black hole of uselessness.

Britton is going to set down the next 9 in order, most likely.

Two days in a row I come home and the first thing I see his Peralta hit into a double play. Bases juiced and Peralta wipes that out with a weak ground ball.

Peralta, Young, and Boesch....doesnt matter what their avg is, in a crucial spot, they will always K or GIDP, whichever is more hurtful at the time. So sick of them!

The orioles board seems to think everything from luck to umps are against the O's. Other than the reversed call, I honestly dont get it. There was no other problem in yesterdays game. (The plate play was inconclusive). First inning right now shows you, Jackson misses a homer by 2 feet, Cabrera hits a single off the wall that cant score a run....lady luck has no favorites in this game!

The beginning of this game has been so disappointing offensively. If Porcello gives up runs here, it will be hard to swallow.
