I guess they did their best back then to make Sandy Amoros' Dodger cap look like a Tiger cap for that card. I never realized he was Tiger at all. 81 ABs in 1960. Last season he ever played.

Gloom and doom side note:

Only other time I saw JV in person was that start he had in St. Louis a few years back.

Deathly hot, he got absolutely shelled, and said the heat really did him in after the game was over.

Hope that doesn't happen again.

I'm not so worried about the heat for JV as I am for the game starting time.

According to the Rangers website, Sat. is "Turn-Back-the Clock Game in honor of the Rangers 40th Anniversary Celebration" and the game will be delayed until 8:30 pm ET due to "The Texas Rangers will honor the 40th Anniversary Team as voted by Rangers fans during a pre-game ceremony."

The last game that JV pitched with a pre-game ceremony was the one for Mags, and he did not pitch well since he said not having an exact start time really messed him up.

Another thing that is good about this game is both teams will be wearing 1976 uniforms!

The Rangers are bungholes. No reason they couldn't start the game at 8:05 doing their pregame ceremony earlier. You don't see the Tigers pushing back start times for celebrations/ceremonies.

Hee-Hee. Got to watch 3 innings of the WSox game and hear Hawk crying. Liriano gave up 6 earned runes in 3 innings before being pulled. Walks, hit batters and wild pitches. Thank You Minnesota!
