Um - 9 left hand bats against 5 right hand starters maybe.

Also the Tigers inexplicably have been dominated by Ubaldo Jiminez in 3 of the 7 games between the teams

Oh also Delmon (despite the hit), Boesch, and Avila all swinging away against an injured pitcher who couldn't throw strikes which not only prevented a chance to score runs but also prevented Cabrera from batting in the 9th even if they didn't

yeah I agree that guy who got a hit should have totally tried to draw a walk instead. What?

Dan: it seems like anyone with even a decent slider can get him to swing with 2 strikes, and he'll usually miss.

Dan: he's only got 3 walks in 269 plate appearances.
Jim: I just don't understand how that can be. I mean you'd have to look back a long way in the annals of baseball history to find something like that. I mean 4 walks ...
    Dan: ... actually it's just 3 walks.
Jim: Dan, you could go up there and walk more than that.

What are the ****ing morons Rod and Mario saying? Let me guess:

Mario: swing and miss on a slider.
Rod: well partnuh, he don't get cheated.
    Mario: he sure doesn't.

Eric - Thanks for your hard hitting analysis. It's right on. Mario is not good at this play calling type of thing.

Just because it worked out doesn't mean it's not a stupid approach at the plate, as seen by Boesch immediately grounding into a double play.

I think of it this way, when a batter strikes out on a hanging slider above the belt it's an awful pitch despite the good result.

I am pretty emotional and not often "voice of reason" guy. But it's one game in an amazing stretch. They will win this series.

This is why I am so thankful that the television broadcast matches up with the radio broadcast for me. I rarely have to listen to those two and their homer drivel. I get it: that's what they're paid for but the Tigers fans deserve better than those two.

As an aside, I can imagine that Rod had a big ol' chubby when Cleveland squeezed.

In fairness, Pudge walked 9 times in 515 at-bats during the 2007 season and 11 times in 525 ABs during the 2005 season so we wouldn't have to look back a long way but....yeah.
