Going to be at this one. Hope the good Porcello attends as well.

I just remember Porcello was pitching a gem (I know, like 2 batters in) then got thrown out in an important game. Pissed me off!

MLB network just gave us mad props on the win. Sporting a "good outfield right now", "sleeping giant is brushing his teeth getting ready for school" etc, etc...

Here's to first place by tomorrow afternoon!!

Berry probably won't play due to Sale being a LHP. However, I really hope I'm wrong. We need to destroy their young guy who's been on fire. That would really take them out of Sunday's winnable match up I think.

I'm glad that they traded Youkilis for his sake. With the Red Sox he was always going to be the second-ugliest guy on the team after Pedroia, no matter what he did. Now with a new team and a fresh start he'll always be the ugliest guy on the field, hands-down.

    Cool indeed.

Don't let her look at Youkilis though, she'll think she's looking at one of those bearded-lady sideshow freaks from 50 years ago.

After losing the first two to Minnesota Id given up hope. I felt thier offense even when hot wasnt enough to cover for thier weak starting pitching and little league defense. But Fister got hot and Max is pitching well and the defense has played so much better. This is looking more and more like last seasons 95 win team. Go Tigers!

    Today's lineup:

    Jackson 8, Raburn 7, Cabrera 5, Fielder 3, Young dh, Peralta 6, Boesch 9, Laird 2, Worth 4

Good news is Cabrera is playing third, so the ankle must be OK. But, no Berry and Raburn continues to hit second...

At least is isn't playing 2B. With JL we have to crawl before we walk on some of these issues....

Make Sale throw 80-90 pitches by the 6th inning and we <may> have a chance. We just can't allow him to get fast outs. We've got some LH bats on the bench that might help us out in the late innings. Porcello just needs to keep us in it until then. I really don't like todays or tomorrows pitching match-ups.

I can see having a RH bat in the line-up, but why in the world would he be hitting 2nd? DD needs to waive him to keep JL from making these brain dead decisions. What's he trying to do, get Raburn some extra at-bats?

Winning this game would mean two things: first place for the Tigers, and if they hit Sale hard enough, knock him below JV in the Cy Young conversation.

Sale is amazing and as a Tiger fan you just have to hope he hits an innings wall pretty quick.

I think it was a smart move by Ventura to move up Peavy. That way you don't waste Sale against JV. If I am a Sox fan I like my chances today and with tomorrow being Turner, who knows..... of course I was thinking this yesterday and followed it up with "So that means the TIgers will lose tonight with JV, then win the next two".

After researching last year vs. my projections vs. this year, and looking at trends over the last 2 months/1 month/14 days, it's pitifully obvious that Raburn is going nowhere. Any hopes for him getting hot have completely vanished in my mind. If he doesn't breakout very soon, I can't see the point to hanging on to him any longer. Thank goodness that Boesch finally started to hit, and DY started to hit a little bit -- all three of these guys are certified bums and have no place on the team in the future IMHO, but hopefully for the balance of this season Boesch and DY can provide enough offense to help win the division at least.

Overall, Fielder (115)/Cabrera (135)/Peralta (77)/Young (60) are pretty much on target to produce what I had expected offensively for 2012.

    Here are the major exceptions:

    Down-side:

Boesch -- expected 80 RCs, currently on track for about 50, might stay hot enough to create 65-70.
Avila -- expected 80 RCs, currently on track for about 60....when will he start to hit?
Raburn -- expected 60 RCs, currently on track for about 10....time to cut bait in my estimation.

    Upside:

Jackson -- expected 80 RCs, currently on track for about 115...our MVP in my opinion.

    Overall:

I expected 815 runs, currently on track for about 740, with some Boesch hotness and maybe some Avila bounce we could get back to 785 where we were last year.

PS - I would have cited Berry and Dirks as pluses, but overall they've produced about 40 RCs, pretty much on track with what I expected the backup OFers to produce (although I expected it to be Dirks and Clete). Kelly I thought would kick in 15 RCs (same as last year), so far he's nowhere...maybe he'll get hot for a bit.

It's a damn shame the season is over, because in a few short hours the Tigers will have reclaimed first place. But, it doesn't count since the season is over, so......darn it all! Final score.......
