This is very deflating. We found out earlier in the year that it is very, very difficult to win a major league baseball game if Casey Crosby is your starting pitcher, and I think that we can reach the same conclusion about Jacob Turner at least for this year. In his defense you could say that if the other team throws a three-hit shutout it doesn't really matter whether he gives up one run or seven, but a contending team can't afford to have him in the rotation. He might get one more start but if it turns out like this one I hope that we won't be seeing him for a while, and he probably would hope so too.

Well, this game sucked, but when you start a guy who has bad strikeout and walk rates in AAA you have to expect the occasional disaster

But also by his 4th start, JV had thrown a 7 inning 2 hit shutout. But more to the point, from the start, even in outings when the results weren't great JV was still showing that his stuff could dominate MLB hitters - that is what Turner hasn't demonstrated in any particularly dramatic way, and I would guess that is why the parallel isn't drawing much affirmation.

Had a feeling this could happen tonight so im not too bummed out. Turner isn't ready for the big leagues yet, but I won't overreact on here about him like others have. Blowouts happen, sucks, but they happen.
Fister tomorrow night? Hopefully he gets them back on track.

It's funny how the offense will often shut down when a team is put in a big hole early in a game. Even the all-star game was an example of this.

I am sick of Turner. He just doesn't appear to have good stuff. I don't know, but I just am not buying into the hype.
We need infield and we need another starting pitcher, turner would be a great piece to move to acquire such assets. I just can't get excited when Turner starts.

Yes, I believe that he will be a top of the rotation guy.
I wouldn't trade him for a rental like dempster because I think the value to be gained from such a move would be negligible. I would be happy to include him in the right deal, but I don't think there is any urgency or anything where we need to trade him before the hype wears off or anything. A few poor starts in the majors doesn't change that.Ajax is only the third most valuable tiger.

Turner is still a good prospect, but I am rarely confident any prospect will be a top of the rotation guy. Verlander was an exception because his ability was so obvious. Plus, his minor league performance was spectacular. I wouldn't trade Turner for a rental, but I would have moved him to get Gonzalez or Garza last winter (depending on who else was involved).
