Great to finally get some baseball going on again. Hope Fister has a nice outing. I was banking on Verlander getting the first start after the ASB in hopes that he would be pitching next Wednesday when I'm at the park. Instead, we get Fister. Fister against the Halos could be scary if he's not showing much sign of improving tonight.

Without baseball to watch, I ended up watching a movie starring some guy named Lars

Four days have gone by
No Leyland, Cabrera or Delmon Young dropped fly balls
Monday through Thursday ended with a sigh
But today is Friday and our Tigers are back, time to start playing, for baseball in the fall.

Finally some Tigers baseball, this has been brutal. I hate the all-star break.

Something is going on with the 25-man roster. Ortega was sent down, like we knew he would, so Worth could be called-up. Well there was a post on the minor league board that Downs was sent to Toledo per the Tigers official site. I can't find that link on their site but if you look at their 25-man roster on their site there are only 23 players listed (no Downs or Ortega). Worth tweeted a picture of Baltimore last night so I know he's with the big club but it'll be interesting to see who the new 25 is.

Marte was sent down on the 3rd so it might just be him coming back up but we'll have to see....

Here goes my MLB blackout rules rant.

I live in a state with no ML baseball team. The closest baseball city to me is Washington, a mere 5+ hours away. How is it in any way realistic for me to drive there to watch a game? Yet I'm blacked out from their games.

But wait, there's more!

Baltimore? a mere 6 hour away. Yet I'm ALSO blacked out from their games. Two markets. WTF is that all about??

But wait, there's more!!!

Remember when the Tigers played in Cincinnati? You guessed it, I was blacked out of those games as well. Almost an 8 hour drive!

I'm blacked out of at least three different markets, each of which are somewhere between a 5 and 8 hour drive from Greensboro.

Thank you, MLB! So, I get to just listen to the games this weekend.

The blackout regions for each team have nothing to do with whether orbit you are expected to go to the game to watch. It's not the nfl. It has nothing to do with the games selling out or not. The purpose of the MLB blackout is to try to get you to complain to you cable provider to carry orioles or reds games or whatever.

Now, that isn't to say that the blackout areas are in any way fair to Yoda or other similarly situated people.

It's just a pet peeve of mine when the "I'm X miles away how I can be expected to attend" arguments are made regarding the blackout areas.

I know how you feel. No local team in Indy yet I'm blacked out from Reds, Cubs and Whitesox games. The Reds I understand because they're always on TV here. But, because the Cubs/Whitesox occasionally play a game on WGN, I'm perma-blacked out from all their games on mlb.tv
