So, given those things, is there a player in the minors who, either by virtue of providing enough defense in OF, or has a high enough floor, or has enough of a better chance of reaching his ceiling that it overwhelm's Delmon;s higher ceiling such that it makes sense to try him instead of Delmon at this point?

Despite the frustration I feel right now, I still believe this team will win the division and get their stuff together before the playoffs.

Prince's lack of defense at 1st is probably the most irreducible problem at this point. There just isn't any way out of it.

You can't watch what this team has done up to this point in the season and believe they are going farther than last year. Heck, they do not look like they will even get as far as last year.

This I agree with. The organization needs to set the bar for behavior and on-field focus at a championship level. That will not turn mediocre players into All Stars but it will maximize the talent they do have.

Winning the division ≠ a good baseball team. As of right now the Tigers are not a good team and they could very well continue to not be a good team and win this division because they suck less then the rest of the teams.

To be fair I do think its to early to freak out because there is plenty of time so I am not giving up on the season but your line of reasoning made me laugh.
