Move Dirks to the two hole and get Boesch out of there. He is the biggest rally killer since Inge.

I'm surprised the Tigers are practically middle of the pack in the AL in team offensive stats, you'd figure they be much lower. Guess the odd weekly blowout skews things.

I think it's just a product of people's expectations. When your expectations are sky-high, anything less than perfection seems like a disaster to people.
This team is under a lot of pressure to perform, and the offense kind of has the jitters coming out of the gate. They're not having good at bats. I'm really not worried at all, though. This isn't 2008 -- a patchwork of aging but big-name veterans and mediocre pitchers that pitched over their head the season prior. It's a bunch of young guys in their physical primes with bona-fide tools.
This team will hit its stride between now and the all-star break and we'll forget that we were even worried about anything at this point.AAT: 2007 L. Oliveros | 2008-10 F. Martinez | 2011 H. Perez | 2012 E. Suarez | 2013 J. Kobernus

I wonder how much the lineup is overrated because of the Cabrera/Fielder combo? If you look at the rest of the lineup, there are lots of questions. There are not a lot of proven productive bats throughout. Peralta can be counted as one, but not necessarily as a bat to pitch around. Avila had a nice season last year, but I don't think he's proven quite yet because of his lack of track record (which is not to be a knock agaisnt him, he certainly can be a proven bat over time).
This offense is also one dimensional, almost strictly station-to-station in terms of baserunning. That is something that hampers them to an extent. I'm not suggesting they suddenly start attempting steals and/or hit and runs every other AB, nor do I think the personnel in place is capable of that kind of baseball. But it isn't an offense that isn't going to create runs by doing much more than stringing hits together.

Finally... No idea why Delmon is still hitting 5th but at least Boesch is down to 8th.

Dirks has quietly taken the Delmon Young approach to drawing walks as well this year, but since he's mashing it's all good. He should probably start taking a couple soon though.

Dylan Axelrod isn't much of a MLB starter. They should be doing this all day.
