We found a dog we loved on Wednesday and had to clear some things with the apartment management before we could get her this Sunday. They tried to tell us we couldn't have an Australian Shepherd (just like a border collie but with longer hair, and there are plenty of BCs at our place) because some of them get to over 50 lbs, which they do not allow, even though she's full grown at 41 lbs. Anyway, I turned on the charm and put the ****ing hammer down and our new "border collie" is moving in on Sunday.
I feel on top of the world. Like how a lawyer must feel after winning a big case but before he realizes that he's going straight to the flames for doing so.
How about a sweep?"I can't say I'm pleased to see you and warn you I may have to do something about it." Knut Hamsun

Yeah i think dirks and fielder are going to be replacing Inge as my tigers.
Any body else thinks that scherzer is still hung over from the beating he took against texas last october in game 6 of the ALCS. For some reason he hasnt looked the same. Leyland really had no reason not to pitch him for game six but with the lead he just imploaded. He hasnt looked the same. I mean the dude won 15 games last year he cant be total garbage?

Avila has a .347 wOBA and is in the heart of the top 10 hitting catchers so far in 2012. He's not the problem right now.
Frankly, I don't want Young to have a good week or two because that means he'll stick around all season, hit at a so-so level, be horrible in the 50 - 100 games he'll play in the field, and genearlly suck.
I'd prefer they had kept Brad Eldred and just released DY -- Eldred's not likely to be much worse hitting-wise than DY, and they'll never make the mistake of playing him in the field.
Santiago doesn't belong in the group of players from my OP (Peralta, Boesch, Raburn) because those guys should be able to produce 60 - 80 RCs, whereas Santiago is a part-time light-hitting middle IF averaging 30 RCs a year for the last few years. Hardly someone who is going to make a serious difference in the team's fortunes.Introibo ad altare Dei

"How many months has it been since Game 6? Five? Six? He's not having an ALCS "hangover." He had a flaw in his delivery that he's been working to correct.
You would be surprised how long some of that stuff canstay in a persons mind when you play sports.
Scherzer just seems like a head case to me as soon as things don’t go his way it’s all down hill after words. Like last Sunday for example he doesn’t get the callsfrom the home plate ump and just seemed to get rattled resulting in being pulled in the 6th with a pitch count near 100. He didn’t have remotely good game but still only gave up 3 or 4 runs till the bull pen blew it. Which means he has the stuff as just no tgetting the results as Dickerson and Price would say LOL
Fact of the matter is the starters need to go at least 7 innings right now because, outside of Dotel, Coke, and Below (sp?) the rest of them have been more miss than hit

But that doesn't prove his struggles are due to the ALCS. Could just mean he was slightly off the mark. It's easy for his mechanics to get out of whack because he has such a complicated delivery.
And I think tossing around accusations of Scherzer being a "headcase" is a bit silly.

Elbow tenderness sends Sox's Sale from starter to closer
"We’re doing it because we feel it’s best for him, his career and his health. It’s the best way to keep him healthy and strong. It gives us the best opportunity to do that. It’s easier to maintain that and keeping tabs on this in the bullpen than it is as a starter. We already know he’s a good left-handed reliever. That’s been proven over the past 1 ½ years. Now we’ll be trying to make him one of the best left handed relievers in baseball, not just in the American League.
Meanwhile, Dylan Axelrod will take Sale's start on Sunday, and left-hander Eric Stults probably will be promoted from Triple-A Charlotte to start one of the games of a doubleheader on Monday at Cleveland.

A tight one today. That, of course, means we'll see Velveeta in the 9th. Final score.......

I didn’t mean to throw the term "head case" around in a derogatory fashion some of the best athletes I have ever played with have been like that, its just who they are. I’m not trying to bag on Scherzer i do like him. His success helps the team succeed.

Nothing worse than when FSD does the behind the catcher camera angle, can't see anything and no one wants to see baseball that way.
