I would say sample size fail on you for only looking at this year as the size of the pool of his subpar offense.
The sample size here is his last 750 at bats over almost 2 years, I'm not saying he can't be what he hints at being someday, but once again, here are his splits (AVG/OBP/SLG) from mid 2010, and he aint 21 years old, he is 27:
Jul-10 209/311/253
Aug-10 185/227/303
Sep-10 186/275/217
Apr-10 319/380/431
May-11 186/226/326
Jun-11 380/437/620
Jul-11 267/305/478
Aug-11 208/300/321
Apr-12 167/167/334
IMO, he is only 5-6 weeks of sub-par play away from being a platoon/bench player, and maybe another sub par 50 ABs from not even being on the roster if he keeps this up. Shelton v2.0 if you will.
I know a lot of people are 'hot' about his healthy return based on the prospect of higher 'ceiling', coupled with the fact he just looks like a baseball stud...and I confess to being wrapped up in that a little myself in the past, but he is definitely only a whisper away from having his cover blown. You do not talk to me like that!! I work too hard to deal with this stuff!! I work too hard!! I'm a Division Manager in charge of 49 people!! I drive a Dodge Stratus!!

So there is a chance we see Valverde again. Leyland blamed the lack of splitter yesterday on the cold temperatures. It's warmer today. I'll be counting the amount of splitters... I'm a skeptic on this.

Actually, Boesch didn't hit that double well at all. Soft fly ball way off the end of the bat. Joyce was shifted to the left, couldn't make the play. That's the kind of luck you need to break out of a slump.

Lol, what the heck does that mean? Because Boesch got a random double (that was also cheap given the defensive ability/alignment)at an opportune time, the previous 750 ABs are void? Lots of players have reached the one double mark this year.
Heck, I love it! I'm a Tiger fan, have been since I was 10 in 1983, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize it when a hometown player is being overvalued. You do not talk to me like that!! Nice job, dickweeds. I read this entire thread and no one ever mentioned we were ahead 3-1. I thought we were losing.

I don't see how Boesch's streakiness is terribly relevant to anything. Most hitters are streaky. But Boesch has the talent and approach to make it work. It's not something worth the worry.
