We will be all over Niemann.

Niemann's picture on the ESPN Gamecast makes him look part Giraffe. I swear it looks like they've photoshopped his neck to be twice as long as normal.

...still not liking the slumping guy (who missed the end of last year with an injury) in the 2-hole for us, amongst 3 of the hottest hitters in the league

Nice play by Miggy!

Every time you play a hand of you poker you wanna run through a mental check list. Head Position Hand Position Neck Position Breathing Posture. More than 25 items. It's a lot. And that why I've come up with a handy mnemonic device. Just one word: HPHPNPBPECMSPAMDCPAFTSTTL. It's easy.

I agree, streaky players probably aren't the best players to hit in the 2-hole. I like to see players that work counts and get on base hit 2nd.

I blame Dan and Jim for that homerun. They wouldn't stop talking about how Smyly doesn't give up homeruns and then Pena hits one out immediately.

Drew isn't pitching all that bad. I think he was just nervous that 1st inning.

Peralta till Boesch figures things out. I know he is slower, but considering the make-up of our lineup, it doesn't matter that much, and BB has a whopping 12 steals to his name entering his 3rd year.
I know BB has potential, whereas Peralta is maxed out, but Boesch really hasn't shown it. He had a little hot streak entering the league that convinced us he is a player, but since then, other than a little run in mid summer last year, he has produced next to nothing of value.
Here are his splits (AVG/OBP/SLG) from mid 2010:
Jul-10 209/311/253
Aug-10 185/227/303
Sep-10 186/275/217
Apr-10 319/380/431
May-11 186/226/326
Jun-11 380/437/620
Jul-11 267/305/478
Aug-11 208/300/321
Apr-12 167/167/334
What the heck is that? Lets put the guy at the top of the order, because 2 out of 9 months he isn't Inge? How much production/runs have we already lost with Boesch over this time period? Especially now with both Cabrera and Fielder behind him.
Again, doesn't have to be Peralta, but it could literally be almost any full-time major leaguer (save Inge) over this time period and it would have been an improvement. I'm not saying he doesn't eventually deserve to be there, but right now, he is all kinds of messed up, and I would suggest he has been for sometime.
EDIT: Sorry, real slow with the respsonse. At work, and it is tricky to steal the time to write a mildly co-herent post, lolLast edited by Statik; 04-12-2012 at 02:04 PM.

Ugh, Dirks should have walked, fouled off 2 balls there.

Need to get the offense going.
Seems were getting 3 ball counts and not getting on base on any of them.
Edit: Tigers now have 6 three ball counts and nothing to show for it. Get one base fellas.

Niemann at 54 pitches through 3, maybe the only positive. Offense has been real silent.

They don't have much to show for all the pitches they made Niemann throw.

8 pitch at bat for Johnson and he draws a walk. 77 pitches for Smyly at this point.
Frustrating game so far.

This game is long, and feeling really loooong. I could swear I have already been watching for like 2 hours.
..and its only 1-0 after 3. I swear if they start actually scoring runs, given this pace, I may fall into a coma before it is over.Last edited by Statik; 04-12-2012 at 02:18 PM.
