Because playing in the rain in Games 1 and 2 was so awesome.

are you seriously endorsing domes? rain is part of the game, domes and turf are not.

    +1.

The practicality of a dome be damned, outdoors is where the playoffs happen.

    No. I hate Tropicana Field.

But I think it has more to do with astroturf than domes. Does anyone object when games are played with retractable roofs closed? Or how about Rogers Centre with the roof open? Is that okay?

The rain was way, way better than a dome.
I'm also glad the Rays' powder blue jerseys are out of the playoffs.
There were acres of empty seats at today's game.

I'd rather play in the rain than domes... I'd rather a rainout than some domes (cough Metrodome cough)

I hate roofs and turf equally. Neither one of them has any place in baseball. If your local climate can't support outdoor baseball on a daily basis between April and October, you shouldn't have a team. Baseball is an outdoor sport. End of discussion.

I'm ok with those as long as the field is still natural grass and the roof isn't put on unless it is raining... I don't care how hot or cold it is, if there won't be a delay, open it.

That is just stupid. So if it is 100 degrees and humid in Houston they should keep it open? Ha...okay. Buy a baseball team and keep that mentality.

Wouldn't we have had home field advantage if we beat the Yanks and the Rays had beaten the Rangers? I would have liked that. As is it is now, no home field advantage in any series. Earning it all I guess.

I don't like them, because it's too tempting to shut the roof if the weather is not ideal. Unless the weather would LITERALLY prevent the game from occurring, the roof needs to be open. And that's not what these teams do.

I would rather play all 7 games on the road than have half of the series in Tropicana. Why not just rent out the Tampa Convention Center and play in there? It's as nice of a ballpark.

    No love for AJ

@Joelsherman1 Joel Sherman - How low has AJ fallen? My hotel full of scouts. Consensus was AJ lasts 4 IP, and scouts said that would be good job by him

Ahh. Gotta love the midwest/northeast elitist mentality when it comes to baseball. Why have ways to allow baseball to be played in all corners of the country? Play outdoors in all conditions the way we do!

No, just don't buy a baseball team unless you're going to put it somewhere that can host a baseball game outside every day.

So that's like 4 places. That rules out the south, southwest, and perhaps upper midwest and northeast.

The Marlins can't draw anyone and one of the problems is it is god awful to sit outside on August evening in Florida. Once the new Marlins stadium is built there won't be an open air stadium in Florida. I've also read a lot of people in Texas regret not building a retractable roof stadium. Los Angeles is one of the few places with perfect weather year round.

And I am sure the Tigers love drawing under 25k for a lot of April and May home games

They didn't have domes when Lambeau was built. Without the dome Detroit wouldn't have hosted the Super Bowl or Final Four. A dome was absolutely the right decision.

Looking up the Tigers numbers vs. Burnett aren't too good. All the hitters with more than 10 AB's haven't done well. These are the combined numbers against Burnett: .237 .322.404.726

Are those just 2011 or career? Either way he has gotten progressively worse this season so I'm hoping they aren't relevant.

I wish Mags was starting over Donald kelly. Why does Kelley have to bat 6th?? He should be lower in the order if, he is going to play.

There has been some speculation on this earlier. I think he's a candidate for a PH and Leyland might like that spot for Ordonez or Raburn. Could be mixing in the LH right there to force the Yankee's hand when they go to the bullpen. Could be because he can bunt the slow runners ahead of him into scoring position. Could be he's had more productive ABs than Avila. But it probably is just a feeling like Leyland gets. Those have been pretty good lately so I defer.
