"Every fifth day, the Great Verlander rises
out of the message board that he thinks is
the most sincere and pitches a great game.
He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't
see how a message board can be more
sincere than this one. You can look around
and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing
but sincerity as far as the eye can see.""If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster."--Clint Eastwood

Im headed to this one. Im 3-0 in home games this year, and the home team won when I saw the tigers in Pittsburgh. Should be a lock.

I'll be there. The one-game losing streak ends here!

Cleveland and Chicago play 7 more times.
This means one team will lose at least 4 times.
Only one team is going to challenge the Tigers this year if any for the Central title.
It will be the team that wins the Sox-Tribe series.
And if those two teams split 4-3 it will make it even more difficult to unseat the Tigers.
After all the Tigers have JV who is 16-2 in his last 18 starts.
That's right Verlander has decisions in 18 straight starts!
And will no doubt pitch twice more against the Sox and Indians if needed.Nice to see a civilized baseball crowd. No idiots behind homeplate waving zoo animal puppets and garishly colored flags.(quote from "Antrat")

Stupid Leyland. All of Verlander's losses came in April and July. In the other months he's 14-0. A good manager would have seen that coming, and adjusted the rotation.

My mom and sister are going to their first Tigers games this year (maybe in a couple years, I don't remember...) Friday and Saturday. Excited for them!

The next two after this are much, much less favorable pitching matchups. Gotta win with JV on the hill.

It's September. The Tigers are leading the pennant race. They are playing the team in second place. This is what we all ask for as fans. Game on!
Section 216 baby!
Back in July we were at a game. It was beautiful out. No wind. Warm out. Beer. I said to Chuck "This is it. Right here. This is the reason I drop the coin every year to buy tickets. This exact moment." This game will be another one..

Man, the board might be quiet for this one! I'm headed down there too with a friend, my mom, and my sister. Section 330...
I'm of the opinion now that you haven't LIVED until you've seen a Verday in person.
I'm 1-1 this year in games I went downtown for, 0-1 in games I've actually been inside CoPa for. Porcello was pitching that day though, so I consider it a fluke.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.

The Sox are the team I am more concerned about than the Indians. The Indians have been playing poorly as of late, whereas the White Sox have been silently winning as much as the Tigers. Only lost 2 games more than the Tigers in August. I just hope the Tigers don't have another colossal collapse again in September.
I edit my posts because of typos. I'm horrible at typing quickly.

Danjo, it is hard to criticise the performance of Mr. Cabrera ... BUT, he just doesn't seem to be the clutch leader that he's been in previous years. I hope that him and VMart can stand up and be counted to pick up the pace during September. If Peralta and Avila drop a little bit in production they are forgiven, but Miggy and VMart need to do the job they are expected to do!
It is good to see Magglio perform, and also Jackson. Their contribution will be extremely important in the next few weeks. Again, it would be really nice to see Cabrera go on a tear as we know that he can!

Magglio in that game yesterday was the Magglio of a couple years back.
I miss that guy.
This division would be the Tigers' without even breaking a sweat, if that guy showed up for just two or three weeks.I've been to Delaware. The second smallest state with the first fattest people.

Realistically we should be 6.5 up on Chicago by the end of the weekend. Of course we would like to be 8.5 up. If we end the weekend 2.5 up..Watch out I think this forum may explode. Even 4.5 up may be cause for straight jackets.

I actually worry about tonight's start a little. The last two starts against the White Sox he's give up 4 runs each (his record is 3-1 on the season though).
I recently read an article about how he wasn't as sharp when we have him extra rest. I wish I could find the article.
Both of those factors leave me an uneasy feeling about tonight's game.

Tonight's lineup:
Jackson 8, Ordonez 9, Young 7, Cabrera 3, Martinez dh, Avila 2, Peralta 6, Santiago 4, Inge 5. Verlander is starting.
Very glad to see Maggs and Santiago getting so playing time after their nice performances lately.
